Much like they did the first two weeks of the season, the San Francisco 49ers have elected to find a place to practice on the east coast instead of making two lengthy plane trips for road games in back-to-back weeks.

According to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers are practicing at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida this week in preparation for their meeting with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

I think it will be good for all of us to be together for a week,” quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo said. “It was good for us in Youngstown. It will just bring the team closer together.”

The 49ers opened the season on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before making a stop in Youngstown, Ohio for a week before a Week 2 meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals. San Francisco won both of those games to open the year. However, they lost the first leg of this road trip, 20-17, to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

The 49ers now find themselves a tiebreaker behind the Seattle Seahawks for first place in the NFC West with both teams at 10-2 and four games left to play, including a Week 17 meeting between the two teams in Seattle.

  1. The Niners are simply in a class above every other franchise in the league. They are playing chess while everyone else plays checkers. Drew Brees is going to be getting crushed by that d line all afternoon.

    Niners 31 Saints 10

  2. I hope the 49s beat Saints. The Seahawks will vault to first seed in NFC, if they also get by the Rams. In fact, it’s not impossible to end up with the best record in the NFL given that the Patriots play KC & Ravens match up with Bills this coming weekend. It’s not likely all that happens, but like the off season, it’s Wednesday, so I’m dreaming & wishing for the right outcome for my team.

Last time I checked 49ers got beat by the Seahawks and Saints beat those same Seahawks with a backup QB and RB so your point is invalid.

Someone’s been digging up old VHS tapes again and getting into the 80s retro kick. Because as it stands now, the Niners have been and still are owned by the Seattle Seahawks. Seahawks have won 12 of the last 13 matchups with the Niners. Nobody in Seattle is scared of the Whiners. That team is all bark, no bite. The 49ers are that old guy who shows up to a high school party, driving a 20-year-old Japanese econobox with a huge wing bolted onto the trunk, bragging about the cool stuff he did when he was in school, 30 years ago. It is truly pathetic. Sad. You just get embarrassed for these people.

  5. I’m sure keeping players locked in hotel rooms, which is the best case scenario, will go great for the 49ers. Totally beats spending 4-5 hours on a flight.

  6. Saints seem like they’re in a bit of a funk lately. Hope they don’t come out of it this weekend. Brees is tough at home. Glad to hear they’re staying on the East Coast between these 2 games. It makes a difference.
