Eagles still playing wait-and-see with injured players

The Eagles are still holding out hope for a few key players making it back for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks, but they don’t know yet.

Via NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com, Eagles coach Doug Pederson said right tackle Lane Johnson hopes to return from his ankle sprain which has kept him out since his Week 14 injury.

He really wants to play in this football game,” Pederson said, mentioning that Johnson would try to do some things in practice.

Tight end Zach Ertz still hasn’t been cleared for contact (back, ribs), but Pederson said they’re awaiting some test results tomorrow to determine his availability.

“If things go favorable he’ll play,” Pederson said. “If they don’t he won’t.”

It seems more likely that Johnson’s closer to a return, which the Eagles could certainly use.

  1. Good thing the NFL made the Eagles the last possible game of the weekend. Get as many of those questionable players ready. No manipulation there.

  2. Who else is tired of hearing about the poor injured Eagles? Wah wah. Every team is down players. Suck it up buttercup.

  3. Playoff teams’ practice squad call ups:
    Bal – 2
    Buf – 2
    GB – 7
    Hou – 7
    KC – 2
    Min – 4
    NE – 1
    NO – 8
    SF – 5
    Sea – 6
    Ten – 9
    Eagles – 16

Sure, no one is as injured as the Eagles.

  4. Carson Wentz’s Inflated Wallet
Maybe it is because this is potentially the best game of the weekend? Heck, it also helps Seattle since they are banged up too, but hey, lets look for anything to point to a conspiracy.

I think the focus on the Eagles is due to who has been injured. Yes, everyone gets injuries but typically it goes throughout the team; whereas the Eagles have been hit hard at WR and CB. Since their top 3 WR for the year have been out most of the year and their DBs can’t stay healthy either. Add Ertz and it means they have no starters from game 1 to catch the ball.

  5. The Eagles play wait and see…
The Patriots play wait and see…
Even the Cowboys play wait and see.

This is football, not freeze tag.
    He who hesitates is lost.

  6. The Seahawks are playing Marshawn Lynch out of retirement and a rookie at RB so…

Everyone needs to stop crying about injuries, everyone’s hurting pretty bad right now. If you aren’t you are lucky.

And this will serve as your excuse when the eagles lose….

  8. The one thing I love about Pederson is that when he has had to coach through adversity he has done great work. My issue with him is the defaulting to Andy Reid 2.0 too often, with bad play-calling, bad in-game management, and getting too comfortable at points. In the end however, Dallas has weapons all over the place and went 8-8 and are sitting home, while the Eagles had to win 4 straight NFC East games to get in the playoffs, and did it. The difference is coaching, and the last few weeks shows just how important good coaching is. As a lifelong Eagles fan, this season is already successful.

  9. Sanders is the most important player that needs to be on the field Sunday. Ertz has no business being out there this week …malpractice lawsuit waiting to happen. Johnson aggravates his ankle and he is gone for the rest. Besides, Clowney is hurt. Ertz, Djax and Johnson will be ready for the next game.

  10. Here’s one thing nobody talks about..

Carson Wentz had beaten exactly TWO teams with a Winning record this year. Two.

He really has NOT shown himself to play well in big games.

Not so sure whey everyone thinks this guy is so great. Great SKILLS, but comes up small in big moments.

How many players did they ‘unretire’?
