All four home teams favored in divisional round

Three road teams won in the wild card round of the playoffs, but the home teams are the favorites in the divisional round.

San Francisco is listed as a 6.5 or 7-point favorite over Minnesota at various sports books, Baltimore is a 9.5 or 10-point favorite over Tennessee, Kansas City is a 9 or 9.5-point favorite over Houston and Green Bay is a 3.5 or 4-point favorite over Seattle.

The home teams are almost always favored in the divisional round, as they are the top two teams in their conferences and are coming off a bye week playing against teams that have had to play the week before. Last year all four home teams were favored, and all four won while three of the four covered the spread.

Over the last five seasons, the home team has been favored in 19 of 20 divisional round games, with only the 2017 Eagles, after losing Carson Wentz, being underdogs. Home teams are 16-4 in those 20 games.

  1. The Ravens defense was specifically overhauled after September to cope the the run better. Peko, Bynes, Fort and Ward were all meant to help with run-stuffing. It would be shocking if they weren’t able to nullify Harvey as a game-changer Saturday.

  2. The Packers are favored by 4 and Green Bay has won their last 8 in a row vs. Seattle at home. 2-1 vs. Seattle in the playoffs overall.

I expect a good game from Seattle. The Packers will have to come prepared for a 4 quarter battle.

Should be a fun one at Lambeau Sunday afternoon at 5:40 p.m. cst.

Hopefully the full squad is healthy and able to practice this week. There were a few players banged up or under the weather with illness last week. We will see later today what the squad looks like.

  3. I full expect the four road teams to win.

KC has already lost to Houston once.

Titans have no pressure on them whatsoever and Baltimore didn’t play well in last year’s playoffs.

Green Bay’s home field isn’t much of a home field and Rodgers isn’t playing as well as he has in the past. Seahawks should win.

Cousins is playing an afternoon game not a night game. I like the Vikings against the 49ers.

  4. “Three road teams won in the wild card round of the playoffs …”

Four road teams would have won in the wild card round if the NFL hadn’t re-written the kickoff return rule on the fly to take away the Bills second half TD.

Have we heard from Riveron on that?

  5. Haha to the poster that said Baltimore didn’t play well in the playoffs last year. Key words last year guy. Two teams in super bowl last year aren’t even in the picture now. How does last year have anything to do with this year?

  6. The Packers are hard to beat at Lambeau, but the first round games tell us road teams can win anywhere. Game time temperatures around 25 won’t affect either team. It all depends on which quarterback leads this Packer team……Jekyll Rodgers or Hyde Rodgers.

  7. Home teams are usually favored int he Playoffs…but it means nothing. So proud of my Vikings today! The 49ers will be tough no doubt. I do slightly like our chances against a young inexperienced team in the post season like the 49ers…the Saints were the toughest draw in my opinion….done!

  8. I like the Vikings over the whiners and Seahawks over the state farm crew.

Titans will give Ravens a game but will lose by 14 or more.

People will be laughing at Watson asking where’s the bragging now, tool? It won’t even be close. KC in a 20 point blow out.

  9. After close scores in round 1 I see two blowouts in round 2.
Vikings by 21 over media created fraud 49rs.
Seattle by 24 over ref colluding Packers.

  10. Good Lord, a lot of Viking fans got purple-lensed sunglasses for Christmas. Getting their hopes too high (again) just makes the Charlie Brown Moment more painful when the rug gets pulled out from under them (again.)

  11. “49ers-Packers in NFCCG. That’s easy money.”

    =========

That’s the chalk so to make real money you would have to bet the other way and pray for upsets.

The Packers are taking the one game at a time approach that they have taken all season. Seattle is the focus and until 9 p.m. cst Sunday when the game is over they will be the ONLY focus.

Part of me personally would obviously like the NFCCG game at Lambeau, so I do support and would welcome that outcome if that is how it shakes out.

  12. I posted last week that all road teams would win the wildcard round, off by one game. Home teams in the AFC will win this week. Visiting teams win in the NFC. It’s always good to have a World Class roster in the playoffs and a top 5 QB. It’s also nice to not have to count on the Refs in order to have any chance to win.

  13. Minnnesota and Kansas City were the two teams Jimmy G. lost to in 2018 before going down with a season ending ACL tear. He now has a chance to redeem himself and beat them both this post season.

The Vikings are done. They won’t even put up a fight for the next 10 years.

    Watch and see.”

Hey lil guy, looks like you are once again full of yourself with your stellar ability to say the same thing every week. Good for you kiddo!

    ###

The Eagles beat the Packers at Lambeau this year. The Eagles lost to the Seahawks in Philly.

The Seahawks are coming to Lambeau on a mission.

Will Clowney knock Rodgers out in the first quarter like he did to Wentz?

  16. I said it all along, the Titans are the one team nobody wants to see in the playoffs. The Ravens starters will be coming off a two weeks bye which has taken them off their rythym while the Titans are red hot. Ravens versus the Titans game has an upset written all over it.

  17. Packers have lost 3 playoff games at Lambeau in the cold. One to Michael Vick, two to the Giants. Wilson is the most dangerous QB among the underdogs, and appears to have 2 great receivers in Lockett an Metcalf. Betters are correct in making this the narrowest spread.

  18. Vikings have a pass rush and defense that can slow 49ers and offense that’s good enough I can also see the Seahawks winning in Greenbay but expect t the Pack to win with the Chefs than can possibly lose also if they can’t stop the run and don’t have answer for DHop but expect KC to our score them only way I see the Titans beating Ravens if the Ravens just self destruct with flags and turn overs other than that I don’t see Titans putting up enough points on that defense

What do you know about the Ravens’ “rhythm”?

Sounds like sour grapes from a Pat fan still butthurt over last Saturday.

  20. From the football I watched this weekend, none of the teams that played have a chance this week.

    ________

That is because you are new…or you aren’t new but haven’t learned anything.

Any given Sunday…especially in the playoffs.

  21. Hawks are 4-3 vs GB under Pete, and 1-0 in the playoffs.

However home team won every game.

    It’ll be interesting.

GB defense isn’t as good as Philly vs either the pass or run on a per attempt basis.

Also GB gave up more 40+ yard plays this year than any team outside of the Raiders.

So much nope in this post I don’t even know where to begin. The Vikings aren’t slowing down anything. They will be embarrassed on Saturday they’ll be taking Cousins’s game ball back.

As much as I hate the Seahawks, Greenbay should prep for Russell to dominate them as well.

It will be round 3 of Niners vs Seahawks.

  23. Texans over Chiefs! We already beat them in KC this year and we can do it again! Their defense isn’t half as good as Buffalo. If we can get pressure on QB early and avoid another slow start Offensively then i don’t see why we can’t win!

HOPEFULLY Titans can beat Ravens too!

  24. Lifelong Hawk’s fan but I see them as 80% likely to get blown out of this game early. They always start slow anyway but them Smith boys are gonna be all over Wilson and even at his hest he won’t be able to put the team on his back in those circumstances.

Only path I see to Hawks victory is some oopportune turnovers and getting a 7-10 pt lead going into halftime. Then they might pull it out
