Aaron Rodgers felt “unspoken” connection with Davante Adams

Wide receiver Davante Adams and quarterback Aaron Rodgers hooked up on one of the biggest plays of Sunday’s win over the Seahawks late in the fourth quarter when Rodgers hit Adams for a 32-yard gain on third down.

The pass was dropped on a dime, which was all the more impressive because Adams said he ran the route “a little bit different” than designed. That didn’t throw off Rodgers and he said after the game that he was feeling a connection with Adams that was similar to one he and Jordy Nelson shared when the wideout was in Green Bay.

“Tonight reminds me of the connection that Jordy and I had for so many years where there were some unspoken things that we could do without even communicating anything about it,” Rodgers said, via Madison.com. “And Davante made three or four plays like that tonight. So that was pretty fun.”

The Packers will need more plays like that to keep the fun going beyond next Sunday’s game against the 49ers, so it’s a good thing for Green Bay that Rodgers and Adams can lean on that connection as they try to come up with an upset.

  1. Most of Rodgers’ off-moments are because of the receivers not named Adams. It’s like having five of Jeff Janis……..all potential, no execution. Kumerow got his chances, but couldn’t deliver. I expect a focus on that group next year.

  2. Stellar, I’d say Alan Lazard does not fit that descriprion. I think he’s on the way to being a standout #2 for the pack. MVS may grow to be a good go-route guy, but fast dudes exist.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I hope you’re right. I really like that kid, but I don’t think he had a reception last night. Not one.

    Again………potential.

  4. Keep in mind that Allen Lazard got hurt in the 2nd quarter and only played 20 snaps in the game. I hope his ankle is fine by Wednesday and he practices this week because he will be needed in Santa Clara. Saleh will try and take Davante completely away. That will open up some things for Lazard, Graham, G-Mo, and Kumerow.

Let’s hope the flu bug is gone now because for the NFCCG we can’t have Bulaga or other key pieces out sick.

  5. I, for one, don’t understand how MVS isn’t a superstar. He’s 6’4, runs a 4.35, and has a good vertical. When you watch him play, defenders are in his back pocket CONSTANTLY. I get that route running has so much to do with being able to get open, but speed should count once in awhile, my God.

  6. If Rodgers or Wilson were on the Vikings roster they’d be going to the super bowl, & probably a couple of more times within the last few years, & cost about the same as Cousins.
