Frank Clark: 49ers haven’t seen a defensive end like me

Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark had a lot to say about what he and the rest of the defense would do to the Titans offense before the AFC Championship Game and then backed up that talk on their way to a 35-24 victory.

Clark isn’t being shy ahead of Super Bowl LIV either. Clark was asked on Monday night about 49ers tight end George Kittle‘s blocking ability. Kittle helped pave the way to two huge rushing games against the Vikings and Packers in the NFC playoffs and Clark was complimentary of the tight end.

He then added that the 49ers haven’t had to tangle with the kind of player they’ll see on Sunday.

“You mentioned Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen,” Clark said, via NBCSportsBayArea.com. “Great, great football players. But I don’t put myself in the category of no other guy. I don’t compare myself to no other defensive end in the league. I feel like my skill set is unique, especially, you talk about Frank Clark when I’m healthy, I don’t feel like there are a lot of defensive ends who can compete with me or play football at the level I play at. I play at an extremely high and aggressive level where I don’t tolerate a lot of stuff that offensive players try to do. I’m sure he’s going to block and do all those good things and make catches and stuff but at the end of the day, Frank Clark is going to be on the field and they have to see me.”

Clark went on to say that he’s “looking forward to winning the football game and holding the trophy more than the matchup with George Kittle.” If Clark can’t win that matchup, however, the trophy may be ticketed for other hands.

  1. The Chefs defense has gone from putrid to mediocre and they’re crowing as if they’re now a top-level squad. They’re decent but come on. If you’re going to talk defense, talk 49ers.

  2. That’s cute, Frank. You wouldn’t even crack their starting lineup. You might also want to look at some of the dudes they play against in the NFC West. Chandler Jones, Aaron Donald, (not technically a DE but lines up in different spots).. Not to mention there isn’t one person on the planet that would take you over Danielle Hunter.

  3. He was in Seattle before this year, right? And if I’m not mistaken, Seattle plays the 9ers twice a year. So yeah Frank, they’ve actually seen quite a bit of you.

  4. I know I should get past this, but I just can’t root for Frank Clark because of the domestic violence case from his college days. I understand every NFL team likely has one or two players whose skills overcome some unsavory personalities, but it doesn’t mean I have to root for those players.

  5. Umm, yes they have. Kyle Van Noy is a better player than you, dummy. Ugh, this guy will not shut his mouth.

This is why people are more likely rooting for SF over KC. SF is far more likeable overall. KC has wifebeaters all over the roster and they act like we don’t know.

  6. If he means by “not seeing a [woman beating] DE”, then yeah. These Niners dispose of those types of players. They don’t embrace them like the Chiefs do.

  7. LOL! Nick Bosa and Dee Ford say hi. This guy wants to talk about himself in the third person like he’s somebody yet he wouldn’t even make the Niners practice squad. Him and his team mates will see what a real defensive end looks like on Sunday.

  8. This is hysterical. They’ve never seen a DE like him? Doesn’t he realize that the Niners played the Seahawks twice a year when he played for them?

As an aside, I expect Clark to get at least one personal foul call as his frustration mounts over the course of the game.

  9. Don’t you wish your D.E. was hot like me
Don’t you wish your D.E. was a freak like me

    Don’t you
    Don’t you

  10. Talk is cheap Frank……..49ers OL will hit you until you become soft. They will run it down your throat until you say please stop……..

  11. As a Chiefs fan, Frank, you played in the NFC west last year… They’ve seen you plenty man.

That said, he’s not as fast as Dee Ford but he’s an every down guy with a high motor so I’m taking Clark over Dee Ford any day. Especially with Fords frequent injury history.

  12. Umm, yes they have. Kyle Van Noy is a better player than you, dummy. Ugh, this guy will not shut his mouth.

Kyle van noy is trash on any other team. At least Clark has been productive for multiple team’s. That being said, I’d rather have Kyle in my team because Clark is an idiot

  13. He sounds like a jerk with his spouting off and third-person nonsense, but make no mistake this guy is a great player. Niners had their hands full of him in Seattle. He can be very disruptive and is relentless.

I guarantee you the 49ers isn’t taking him lightly.

That said, he’s a real idiot off the field.

  14. This guy beat the tar out of his girlfriend in college and got thrown off the team. Now he’s talking like he’s a big bad man? Along with his trash teammate Theek who beat on his pregnant girlfriend and his defenseless three year old kid. Way to keep it classy KC….

  15. Didn’t they Clark the Clown LAST YEAR when he was with Seattle? Freaking Clown 🤡

In 2 games last year Clark the Clown 🤡 had 8 Tackles, 1 Sack, 1 Pass Defended, 6 QB Hits

Must be why the Chiefs D is ranked higher than the 49ers D. Pro-Football Focus is your friend.

I’m surprised the Chief’s D doesn’t get more positive coverage. They finished the season with 3! less sacks than the 49ers with this supposed superstar D line of the 49ers.

Yes, the SF d is good, but KCs is no slouch and better than people think. Yes, they have issues, but Spags has turned things around quite a bit.

  18. Post Season and Regualr Season:
    League Leaders – Defense
    Total Defense (YPG) Complete List
    1. San Francisco 49ers 252.5
    2. New England Patriots 272.0
    3. Baltimore Ravens 300.0
    4. Seattle Seahawks 313.0
    5. Minnesota Vikings 316.0

  19. He’s right, he shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence as Danielle Hunter — Hunter is not only significantly better, he’s got 10 times more class.

  20. As a Niners fan, I love the fact that this guy won’t shut his mouth. I’m glad he’s motivating the Niners defensive line, offensive line, and George Kittle.

  21. Clark sure knows how to run his mouth, probably should just focus on getting ready for the Super Bowl.

  22. Chiefs defense & offense played a 1st place strength of schedule in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016…

While the 49ers have been playing the dregs of the league the last few years. The 49ers should look like world beaters on defense AND offense.

They didn’t look very good against KC last September in Kansas City, however. Had zero answer for Mahomes that day as I recall.

I guess we’ll see on Sunday if they’ve really improved or if they benefit by playing that weaker schedule of so so teams the last several years.

Did you just make up that nonsense?

Te final power rankings for 2019 show that the Niners had the 11th toughest schedule. The Chiefs had the 15th toughest schedule.

So the Niners not only had the tougher schedule, they finished with a better record than the Chiefs.

    Facts are stubborn things.

  24. Frank Clark is pretty good at rushing the passer. He stinks in coverage and is nowhere to be seen when required to tackle. Not remotely elite at his position. But he certainly is a legend in his own mind.

  25. Frank Clark should keep his woman beating mouth shut. He’s such a loudmouth idiot. KC should have o answer questions about why they like to have woman and child abusers on their team.
