Tom Brady to Miami rumors keep gaining steam

Tom Brady‘s deliberate decision to send a cryptic message about his coming-or-going football future has sparked even more speculation about a situation that already was rife with it. It also has fueled rumors regarding where Brady may play, if he doesn’t play for the Patriots.

And the destination that continues to get the most buzz is the place where the Super Bowl will be played in two days: Miami.

The rumor makes sense, for various reasons. Long-time Patriots assistant coach Brian Flores coaches the Dolphins. The Dolphins could use Brady’s help at the quarterback position, allowing them to devote their draft capital to young players who would improve the roster around him.

Miami also would put Brady and his wife, Gisele Bundchen, in much closer proximity to Costa Rica (where the family has a home) and Brazil (Bundchen’s native country). Given her line of work, the fashion scene in Miami would be a much stronger attraction than cities like Nashville or Indianapolis.

Then there’s the Bruce Beal factor. The partner of Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has an option to buy the team whenever Ross decides to sell it. Some believe Ross may decide to sell much sooner than later, with Beal buying the team and selling a sliver of it to Brady. (At least one league source has suggested that a sale to Beal is possible not long after Miami’s concludes its Super Bowl hosting duties.)

If Brady ends up in Miami, the stadium would be full and the jerseys would sell like none other in the game. And the two games between the Patriots and Dolphins instantly would become must-see TV, along with every other Dolphins’ game in 2020 — especially since the schedule will include games against the Chiefs, Chargers, Raiders, Broncos, 49ers, Rams, and Seahawks.

  1. I don’t see it unless its purely and ownership play because at best its a 1 year gig because they wont be able to keep TUA off the field for more than a year.

  2. Brady’s post was a tribute to Kobe Bryant. The shot was nearly identical to the Kobe Bryant black and “love the hate” photo

  3. No… no they aren’t gaining steam. Team ownership, which is a completely made up rumor, would be the only possible remote reason he would consider it.

He hates Miami as a team and organization, he plays very poorly in Miami and they aren’t anywhere near a winning team having dumped their entire roster.

  4. Looking for one last pay day is one of the problems Miami has had with FAs. Only to see those FAs play less than 12 games and giving us a decade plus of mediocrity.

  5. I think Brady is the greatest GOAT QB based on SB appearances/wins alone and I am neither a fan of his nor the Pats.

That said, I really think he should hang it up and go out with dignity. I am not saying he can’t still play well, but he should have learned something from BB when he would cut or trade players a little early rather than too late.

Go out with class and end this will he, won’t he, where nonsense

  6. As a long time admirer (hater) of the patriots, and as a long time hater of the dolphins (for never beating the patriots), this would be delicious.

  7. Brady has a better chance of playing for the Titans than the Dolphins. Why would he want to insult the fans and the organization like that by going to a divisional rival? He’s not Brett Favre.

  8. So far the list of rumors is something like this =

Tom bought a house in Vegas
Tom talked to Mark Davis so he’s signing with the Raiders
Tom bought a house in Nashville yesterday
Tom was in Nashville checking out a private school for his kids
Gisselle was in Nashville yesterday at the school not Tom
Tom is buying a house in Miami
Tom is buying a house in Los Angeles
Tom is going to the Dolphins
Tom bought a house in Jacksonville
Tom is signing with the Jags
Tom bought a house in CT
Tom is signing with the Giants
Tom is singing with the Fins because they are offering ownership interest (which likely violates the cap if they did)

I think that about covers it

  9. You all miss 2 important things. One is legacy. Tom won’t screw up his legacy with Patriots fans by going to Miami. Two is that it isn’t about money. The contract is about control. He can play this “I’m really going to leave” game and say he will only stay if you bring in X receiver or Y tight end. Point is, he now exerts control over the roster to a certain extent, because they now believe they can lose him to another team. So he won’t be saddled with a bunch of bad receivers next year. Brady is all about launching TB12 and his media thing with Strahan. He doesn’t want to own a football team or be a media flack.

  10. “He hates Miami as a team and organization, he plays very poorly in Miami and they aren’t anywhere near a winning team having dumped their entire roster.”

Where do you get that he “hates Miami”? Has he ever said anything like that seriously? I have never heard him talk about ANY team that way.

The article makes some good points about the location. And Miami could be VERY near contention with a solid QB. Once Fitz took over, they were competitive in basically every game – and Brady is better than Fitz.

I’d love to see it. Pats fans would melt down.

    *************************************************************************
I hadn’t realized this until your post. I definitely think you’re right. It looks almost identical, and it would make perfect sense, from a timing perspective, for Brady’s photo to be a Kobe tribute.

  12. Miami has no chance to win a title in the next two years so if Brady goes there, it’s simply for his ego (and money). He’ll really damage his sort term legacy playing for the Dolphins….he would be better off retiring.

  13. Ain’t gonna happen. He can’t help that team with the lack of talent there so why spend your last years frustrated by losing most of the time?

  14. No, it makes absolutely no sense. Dolphins have 3 1st round picks, they are definitely taking a QB. They gave away all their talent last season. You think Brady, the guy who’s always said he just wants to win, wants his last season to be on a team that, if they’re lucky, will win 6 games next season?

  15. Part of the premise here is that he will move to Miami to save him and his wife two hours or so when flying to South America in the offseason. If they go 10 times in 7 months, which seems doubtful, that would be 20 hours total. And it’s not like he’d be there long term anyway.

  16. A 42 year old QB in the twilight of his career on a rebuilding team, is he throwing to Mark Duper and Clayton?

  17. This is quite simple: Brady wants to win a 7th ring. He will not go to a team that’s rebuilding. He will only go to a team that has an immediate and credible chance to contend for a title. That’s not Miami. His best chance to win that coveted 7th is with the Patriots, who would have been the Super Bowl favorite if Antonio Brown had not turned out to be deranged. He stays.

  18. Wherever he ends up, if it isn’t New England, it will be fun to watch how it plays out. If he goes elsewhere, does he ask for a big payday, or does he sign a semi-bargain deal, so that team can also build something around him? At this point in his career, he needs help to hope to reach (and possibly win) another SB. So, it would make sense to leave a little money on the table for other talent, if he truly wants to show he can win a title without Belichick. It isn’t like he truly needs the big payday between the money he and Giselle have earned over the years.

  19. Brady has two years left and he’ll want to play for a team where he can make a difference and take to a Super Bowl. (That’s why the Chargers are out.) Miami actually could be that team.

  20. No Way Man. Fitzmagic already said he’s coming back and he outplayed Brady last year. In fact he was the best QB in the AFC East. Sorry not sorry New England, Buffalo and New York.

  21. Miami also would put Brady and his wife, Gisele Bundchen, in much closer proximity to Costa Rica (where the family has a home) and Brazil (Bundchen’s native country).
    —————————————–

Really? Now they would only be a few thousand miles away.

  22. I wish Spielman wouldn’t have given Cousins a guaranteed contract. I’d release him in a heartbeat to sign Brady.

  23. Miami also would put Brady and his wife, Gisele Bundchen, in much closer proximity to Costa Rica (where the family has a home) and Brazil (Bundchen’s native country).

    ————————-

That make sense. Move to Miami to save a few dollars on plane tickets for a couple who’s worth $500+ million.

  24. I love these “rumors” that are just a bunch of media people repeating each other in an echo chamber.
Sure, Brady would bring a lot of interest and money to Miami. But that applies to pretty much every other team in the league. What’s in it for him?

  25. Could Brady get more money . Of course. But between he and Bunchen they are already worth over 500 million.

It would be an ego thing.

Enjoy your Fitzmagic. He had some great games, but he’s not taking any team to the playoffs.

    ————-

Because Miami are ready to go to the Super Bowl after dumping all their good players for picks? No.

  28. If he were going to Miami I dont think they would have replaced a Patriot coordinator with Chan Gailey. Gailey is an indication Fitzpatrick is the guy

  29. FACT: Vrabel and Tom are buds. He visited the Titans for 3 days. Tannehill and Mariota are not under contract for 2020.

  30. Oh please, if he’s going to any team in Florida (we all know Giselle won’t allow that) it’d be Tampa, easily the best roster in the state with 2 Pro Bowl WRs and an ascending defense. LA would seem to be a lock as of now.

  31. Brady isn’t going to a team that’s still two or three years away from competing… UNLESS he wants to go there to show the world the Patriots weren’t all Belicheck, but beating him.

I think LA is much more likely.

  32. You actually think he wants to play for a rebuilding team just so he can have a shorter plane ride to Costa Rica and Brazil? Real galaxy brain stuff going on here.

  33. IF Tom leaves Pats, he is not going to play for a team who is rebuilding. He wants to win another SB. So I really don’t see Miami in his future.

  34. They lived a decade plus in New England where there was zero fashion scene and I think she did just fine. They could move to wherever and I think she’ll still be fine.

  35. Pats sign Brady and trade him before the draft for the #5 pick. Contrary to hater narrative, most Pats fans seem to think it may be time to move on. There’s no meltdown. I live here. They’ve been good since Kraft bought the team(Super Bowl in ’96). They’ll be good after Brady leaves. Which I think he will.

  36. Just stop the nonsense. Frank Gore wants to play for Miami, Tom Brady wants to play for Miami. Enough crazy talk. Miami is a rebuilding team which means they are filling their roster with YOUNG players. Not older players who while they were great during their careers, they are older now and the chinks are starting to show in their armor. Both Players should stop padding their numbers and just hang it up while they can still walk away on their own terms.

  37. Look at it this way folks – there could only be 32 rumored destinations, so let these poor scribes have fun before they all look foolish. Remember the “Chargers are done with Rivers” laugher?

Oh brother! If Brady ends up a Fin, the Pats fans’ heads are gonna explode! LOL
    ————————
The only way Brady could help Miami next year is by returning to the Patriots.

  39. This guy is done. Come on he falls down now like Eli has for years, and throws the ball away at an alarming rate.

And he won’t win in Miami. He doesn’t impress me as the guy who will play anywhere for his wife either.

  40. Come on!!! I can just see it

Tom: hey honey watch this, I am going to put out a picture and lets see all the dust that gets stirred up. He is not going anywhere and if he does it will be retired. Lets think, he is in his 40’s, all the money in the world, he still has all his limbs in tact, learning a new playbook/offense= probably not, never really been on a losing team. I would think that he probably would like to go out on top.

    Have a great day.

  41. Brady isn’t done. He’s dropped off a bit, but he makes almost any team a contender. Like the Raiders, Bears or Chargers, for example. Make no mistake, and leave the hate at the door.

  42. Tom isnt going anywhere BUT he does have to put a little scare into the Patriots if he wants one more big payday. I’ve always thought he’s been the ulitmate CAP friendly player by always restructing his contracts so the Patriots ar’nt in cap hell. I think NOW though, he wants to be taken care of for his last 2 years.

  43. Brady brings leadership.
    Brady brings winning
    Brady fills stadiums
    Brady sells jerseys.
Brady puts a wandering, mediocre franchise back on the map and gives them cred.

Yeah Brady was real solid this year. Brady doesn’t bring jack. I would love to see him go to another team where they don’t get special privileges and watch him be the leagues worst qb.

  47. Oh brother.

Giselle has been trying to get Brady to retire forever.

He’s really going to uproot his family just for a few more years in a random place with an unproven head coach. : /

    Stop it.

  48. It will be interesting to see how things go in Patriots nation in the years ahead. There is a whole generation of that fanbase that simply doesn’t understand what losing seasons look like, or what endless fruitless searches for a franchise QB can look like.

It’s gonna be a big adjustment. Kraft doesn’t impress me as an owner – he got pretty lucky w/ BB, and then hitting lighting in a bottle w/ Brady.

A full rebuild is coming, and it could be a long one. The AFCE is going to change hands.

  49. Billsrthefuter – You lost me after the first sentence. Kraft doesn’t impress you as an owner. He’s one of the finest, if not the finest owners in all of sports.

  50. So they own a home in Costa Rica so that means Miami? Giselle has done just fine not living in Miami with her stuff too.

He’s going to a contender whether that’s NE or what. Please just stop and think about it..: wouldn’t that alienate him to the NE fans if he joined them? And he doesn’t want to face BB twice and risk showing that he was great because of the coach. Ok so that last one is more hypothetical but it would make sense.

Vegas or LA chargers make the most sense if not Ne

  51. I was unaware of any Brady to Miami rumors until now.

    Way to get it started.

It’s not happening though. Miami might possibly be the worst place he could go.

  52. Lol yeah right. Zero chances Brady leaves New England to play for the terrible Dolphins. It would not surprise me one bit if Brady posted the “cryptic” picture just to mess with the foaming at the mouth “journalists” of the current era.

  53. I don’t see him going to Miami. He showed this year that he’s not much more than average with an average team. Face it, defense and special teams were responsible for more wins than he was. Unless he wants to prove that he can win with an average team.

  54. No way this happens. Dolphins have committed to Fitzpatrick (8 million) and they would need to commit an additional 25 million/year for Brady for 2-3 years. That does not make sense for a team who is in the 2nd year of the rebuild and who is committed to bring young players who are in for the long haul.
Fitzpatrick makes a lot more sense for them to bring the new QB along.
Best of luck to Brady but I do not believe he will ever play for the Dolphins.

  55. Biller I’m not sure I could disagree with you more on Kraft. I’m not sure I’d ever go site seeing with him in Florida but the Patriots have been THE team as long as he’s owned them. He’s a shark type business man, he hired the right people more often than not. And I agree the younger Patriots crowd doesn’t remember the years they were the Timberwolves of the NFL so it’ll be a learning experience for sure. However the best the rest of the AFC East can hope for is the division becomes more similar to their NFC counterpart and it’s anyone other than last year’s champion every year because I’d be shocked if it craters in NE and none of the other AFC East teams is run well enough to maintain sustained success.

    ———-

Brady’s post was a tribute to himself. He can’t stand that he isn’t getting any attention during Super Bowl week!! What a cry baby. Always has been.

  57. The very first thing that Tom will do above all else is to take a hard look at there O line from last year. Bill

  58. Don’t do it Tom. You are a system guy. You will get exposed. See what you did without all the bounces this year? Didn’t you have like a top 2 defense as well?

  59. Don’t do it Tom. You are a system guy. You will get exposed.
    _________________________________________________

It is Brady’s system, tell your favorite QB to THROW THE BALLS AT THE EARLIEST TIME, he will win multiple SB.

Oh, sorry, your QB is too stupid to learn complicated system, he can only play in a system that defenders can’t see his eyes and fewer defenders near his WR.

  60. The only team that makes sense is the Titans. Tannehill looked small against the Chiefs. If Brady had been in there, there’s a better than 50/50 chance the Titans would be playing tomorrow. Tannehill had a great regular season–but I don’t think he’s cut out for the spotlight.

  61. LA Chargers make more sense. A year ago went deep into playoffs- MUCH closer to the ‘One Player From SuperBowl’ belief that causes a team to overpay for a veteran QB. Chargers ownership suffer in LA as second team, will be tenants in Kronke’s Inglewood Palace. Bolt give Tom 3 year set contract, draft Tua first round, Tom developed Saban’s QB at Alabama as part of a big paycheck deal in a media center (Giselle hates LA, but Rivers have a big housde in SD- jus sayin’). I sense that Rivers knew that this was how it would play out, thus early move to FLA. Rivers will be Ross’s QB.

  62. I hope Brady stays here, for sentimentality’s sake, if nothing else. But a small part of me would love to see one team’s fan base do a shameless about-face and start talking about how they have the greatest QB of all time who definitely isn’t a system quarterback, who definitely wasn’t riding the success of the greatest coach of all time, who definitely had no hand in allegedly deflating footballs.

You guys are too classic, seriously😂

  63. Not to mention Brady would make a great stopgap while Tua gets healed up, should they draft him.

  64. I have to add a comment to the haters that are saying the Patriots will be Losers if Brady leaves. That there is just to funny, yeah you can’t replace a GOAT qb, but they will still have a GOAT coach who’s not going to retire until he passes Shula and you have strong ownership with Robert and Jonathan involved more and more everyday. The Pats will take a step back, but they’ll move forward faster then most inept franchises who’ve gone nowhere over the last 20 years. #NOTWORRIED

    _______

In other words, you love to see other teams’ fans do what Pats fans do.

The Pats fans razzed Antonio Brown while he was with Pitt. and Oak.

Then when he became a Patriot, the Pats fans were saying how Beli-sneak and Shady were going to turn him around and he was the final link in the chain.

As soon as AB s released from N.E., the boo bird Pats fans heaped abuse on him.

So if you “would love to see” this, then you’d basically be razzing yourself and other Pats fans’ behavior.

  67. My last comment….
    TB12 is not going anywhere.
The Pats give him a 2 yr contract. (With most a signing bonus so it doesn’t hurt their cap space). They pick up a top tier receiver, Edelman won’t be playing with broken ribs, and Manu will be healthy and understand the Pats playbook much better. But most importantly they will have a healthy O-line.
And Tom will win his 7th SB.
And for all the haters out their?
REMEMBER THE SB vs ATLANTA!! (Also go to ESPN and read; What really happened during deflategate? Five years later the NFL’s ‘scandal’ aged poorly)

  68. It aged poorly because the NFL swept it under the rug, “for the good of the league”.
It is laughable that Pats fans think Goodell is their enemy.
He reminds me of Batman in the “The Dark Knight”, taking the heat to protect Harvey Dent’s image for the good of the city.

Goodell is Batman, the cheating Pats are Harvey Dent/Two Face, and the NFL is Gotham City.

  69. The Dolphins are one of the least popular teams in the league with one of the worst fanbases in the league. Brady Dolphins jerseys would see worse than any other jersey he wears next year with the exception of maybe the Bills.

  70. I can see Brady going to Miami since Brian Flores is there. Plus Brady can transition to coaching if he wants to.
