Tom Brady to Titans rumor debunked

Getty Images

A rumor has been making the rounds, with some fairly high-level people participating in the mongering of it, that Gisele Bundchen, wife of Patriots (for now) quarterback Tom Brady, has been checking out schools in the Nashville area. The rumor fueled a potential connection between Brady and the Titans, whose head coach (Mike Vrabel) is a former teammate and current friend of the six-time Super Bowl champion.

Via Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com, the rumor isn’t true.

A Nashville attorney named Blair Dunham claims that the rumor started because the wife of former Titans offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson was touring the Montgomery Bell Academy. Dunham said Monday on WNSR-AM 560 that his son, who attends Montgomery Bell Academy, was told that a student was informed that the school’s admissions director was “meeting with a Hall of Famer.” The student saw Hutchinson’s wife, a tall blonde, and the student mistakenly assumed that Hutchinson’s wife was Bundchen.

The story, which is at best based on second-hand information, is goofy enough to be plausible. But the rumor had gotten fairly rampant, and it may be too late for the truth (if that is the truth) to get its foot into the top of a pants leg.

Brady remains on track to be a free agent in March, allowing him to sign with the Titans or any other team — unless he re-signs with the Patriots before hitting the market.

UPDATE 11:23 p.m. ET: Titans reporters Paul Kuharsky, who is clearly irritated by this story and wants people to quit talking about it, claims that Hutchinson’s wife was not at the school. Which, whether Kuharsky realizes it or not, puts the Gisele rumor back in play.

  1. Every day a new destination, even though he is still under contract with the Patriots. The goofy thing is the storm of media conjecture. I sure hope the questions about the GOAT’s future doesn’t over shadow Patty Wunderkind’s
moment in the sun. He’s only 5 Lombardi’s and 3 SB MVP’s behind the GOAT! That’s equivalent to Lombardi’s of Rodgers’, Brees, Peyton and Flacco combined. Good luck with that Kermit!

  2. You people have lost your minds. Enough with the US Magazine nonsense. Just let it play out. Please?

  3. Last night game show that Belichick wouldn’t be able to win a SB with Jimmy Garopollo, because in 5 of 6 SB, he needed Brady to deliver when the game was on the line in SB and AFCCG.

He also needed Brady’s time consuming offense to cover the flaw of his defense (go check the time possessions in last 6 years), something Brees, Rodgers, and Peyton were never able to do (please don’t insist they are idiots and refused to play the way that is better for their teams)

He can’t afford to let Brady go, or he will be exposed.

  4. No he’s going to the Saints, no way he’s going to the bungles, no no no he’s going to Las Vegas, no now he’s going to Baltimore no, now he’s going to the Rams, no that’s not right, he’s going to the Cowboys, got a love the off-season rumors

  5. When do the Tom Brady to SF rumors start? Aside from needing a HC that knows how to mange a game they desperately need a real QB.

  6. It is pretty big news if Tom Brady’s wife was there. Lots of people would be talking about it, and a few photos would have surfaced by now.

  7. Can we stop speculating? He isn’t going anywhere and we all know it. He is enjoying the drama though, makes up for the lack of Super Bowl interviews.

  8. Brady will be the Redskins next quarterback. He wants to spend time in DC so he can see how things work in the Capital for when he retires and runs for Congress.

  9. With Tannehill’s mobility and Tom somewhat older now I’m not sure Tom would beat out Tannehill to start. Tom’s Vegas or Chargers bound if he doesn’t stay in NE.

  10. So to sum it up: We don’t know anything and rumors are just rumors.

What are the chances Brady himself is even 100% sure he knows exactly how this is going to play out?

  11. As the man said during his commercial- he isn’t going anywhere.

Week 1 starter for NE. Book it.

  12. Poor Brady. No one is paying attention to him. Next time don’t throw a bunch of pick sixes at the end of the season. If there even is a next time.

This is hilarious. Exposed? NE would win the division next year with Stidham. Book it. Was he “exposed” with Cassel? No.

Here’s what I can tell you…….BB never would have gone away from a 6YPC average for Mostert in that 4th qtr. He would have trusted his #1 D and they would have won.

Good lord, it’s his blueprint on KC that SF used on D! When Brady does leave and the next QB is developed, that QB won’t be Brady, but Brady has lost SBs atupidly audibling away from the run to go the pass.

What Shanahan did looked like Brady choosing to pass with a 17-9 lead, 17-15 lead, etc, with Green-Ellis only getting 8 carries in the game as the lead back.

That’s got nothing to do with talent at the QB position, it has to do with playcalling.

  14. Poor Brady. No one is paying attention to him. Next time don’t throw a bunch of pick sixes at the end of the season. If there even is a next time.

Literally everyone is paying attention to him. Its non stop focus on what is Brady going to do. When you are the GOAT people are interested in your next move. Its not his fault that the Brady saga was just as exciting as the lead up to the SB. In three weeks he has been rumored to be going to Tenn, Washington, Miami, LAC, Vegas, NE, Dallas.

What does Mahomes have to do w/ this article? Pats fans are interesting.

He’s pretty young, ya know. That Lombardi total might actually go up, and fairly quickly.

  16. please quit mentioning Brady to Miami….. Fitzpatrick has already confirmed he will be back in 2020. Fitz has earned the trust from the coaches and every player in that locker room. Would send a horrible message to shoe horn Brady in there now.

At this stage of their respective careers Fitz > Brady anyway.

    just stop.

Wow. To be the GOAT all you need to do is win 4 of your last 9 games? And that’s after you tape the Bengals’ sidelines. Hardly a GOAT.

  18. I love how a bunch of people are losing their minds, either about where Brady will go, or just losing it in response to how others are buying into every rumor. It’s the gift that keeps on giving, Clark.

Yea that’s it. He’s the GOAT because of the results of the last 9 games. Don’t worry, Brady will be out of the league soon enough and your sorry pathetic team will get some attention.

  21. Was a big Brady and Pats fan but this year was a disaster. This team must go rebuild and forget trying to eck one more SB out of Brady. The D is old, no receivers, the running backs were so so and the O line pourous at times not to mention the whimp arm of Brady.
Hey Tom, your age caught up with you, accept it and go spend time with family now, you cant help the Pats.

Yet in a heartbeat, that locker room would ship Fitz in a heartbeat if Brady came along. Also, just for reference, Fitz threw 500 fewer yards, 4 fewer TDs, and 5 more INTs than Brady in 2019. At 95 years old, Brady will still be a better QB than Fitz and its not even close.

How many Lombardi’s and SB MVP’s should a 2nd year, 24 year old have?

  24. Don’t now why the Titans would want Brady? It would be a step down. Ryan Tannehill is better than Brady at this point.

    You’re not a Pats fan. You’re a troll.

The D won 10 games by themselves this year and is not old at all. They were the #1 D in the entire league all year.

NE redhirted their 2019 draft class in a nutshell, due to said loaded D, and have 12 draft picks in this year’s draft with 3 3rds, alongside getting key players back healthy.

So, basically, what will happen is, trolls like you will be stunned when a bunch of no name, 2nd year or rookie player are filtered in to the base of the team, and you’ll be all loony bird again come next January.

    Rinse and repeat.

    LMAO

  26. This specific rumor of him and G looking at schools has been debunked. But it doesn’t really debunk the thought of him going to the Titans. I don’t think it’s going to happen for many reasons, but it is still possible.

  27. 49ers would have scored in the 4th with Brady, so dump Jimmy G, pick up Brady, next year SB chances improve

Well, Brady wanted Sanu, got him and looked subpar with him. JimmyG got Sanders. JimmyG got Deebo Samuel, Brady got HArry/Meyers.

The difference was the QBs willingness to work. JimmyG also did not skip OTAs again like Brady.

JimmyG was the better QB in 2019 than Brady was. Period. He was 18/21 halfway through the 3rd qtr and was on pace to possibly break Phil Simms’s SB 21 record of completion%.

The problem was the playcalling. It always is. It’s hurt Brady in the past, too, where he thinks throwing is more beneficial, where it was pretty obvious running it was the right choice, even if you don’t accomplish a scoring drive.

    Have a nice day.

  29. I wouldn’t discard this rumor. This is by far the best fit for Brady if he leaves. The Titans are a good QB away from competing for a Super Bowl, if Henry returns Brady won’t need to throw 40 times to win every game, and most importantly Vrabel is a good buddy Brady trusts and knows well.
There is zero chance Brady goes to some of these other teams mentioned (Chargers, Raiders, Bears etc) because they aren’t Super Bowl contenders and he’d have to learn a new system. It has nothing to do with money. He just wants to win another SB and play until he’s 45 without falling off a total cliff and limping around like Peyton did in his last couple of years, which was sad.
If the Titans sign Tannenhill, then Brady stays in Foxborough, although I think he will do that anyway and get some commitment out of Beli and Kraft to upgrade the offense.

Fitz also led the Dolphins in rushing and had the worst graded OL in both run and pass blocking …… Brady wouldn’t have made it through the entire season behind that OL.

Also Fitz is signed for $8 million next season …. why would anyone pay a washed up tom Brady $25 – $30 million? makes zero sense.

Brady is not good anymore and you guys are so blinded by his past performance you can’t see it.

Mobility doesn’t mean much, defenses will catch up to QB play that can’t recognize pre snap and manipulate coverages. Tannehill at his age should be nearly a master, but he’s not and never will be. Bailing out with mobility because of ineffective passing know-how will only go so far. Lamar Jackson & Cam Newton or even Michael Vick are proof of that. Brady would give the Titans a better SB shot, much like Manning did the broncos.

I think this is the most plausible scenario.
But they have sold their house and are moving out of that house.

Funniest thing on this thread. If Fitz were standing right here, he’d be laughing the loudest, because he’s smart enough to know just how silly that is.

Brady would be 12-4 or 13-3 with that Miami team and make them contenders right now.

  34. Brady will embarrass himself whatever team he chooses. If he leaves, he will get exposed as a system guy. Very few slot receivers are like Edleman and Brady can’t throw deep outs or deep passes, for that matter.

That last part is so off base its stupid. The Pats had a much better roster than the Dolphins and went 12-4.

  36. You guys got it all wrong!
Brady is going to the XFL!!!!!

and then maybe…. the CFL and unify the title belts!! LOL
