Odell Beckham has “good feeling” about where Browns are headed under Kevin Stefanski

After meeting with his new head coach, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is optimistic about the direction the team and offense will be headed under Kevin Stefanski.

[W]ith the new coach coming in, just seeing what he did with the Minnesota Vikings for a long time with [Adam] Thielen and [Stefon] Diggs. These are people who I’ve watched closely on their film, and just seeing the things that he did and meeting him and seeing where his mind’s at for Jarvis [Landry] and myself of how this will all work out, I have a good feeling about it, you know?” Beckham said, via Zach Frydenlund of Complex Sports.

Beckham and Stefanski were able to meet face-to-face for the first time nearly two weeks after Stefanski was hired by the Browns as the replacement for Freddie Kitchens as head coach. While Beckham and Landry were both able to surpass 1,000 yards receiving for Cleveland last year, the offense as a whole didn’t rise to expectations whole averaging just 20.9 points per game.

Stefanski’s addition could help level out the play of Baker Mayfield and allow Beckham and Landry to thrive similarly to that of Diggs and Thielen in Minnesota. Beckham is hopeful the change allows the Browns to flip the small margins to their advantage moving forward.

“And I’m always optimistic and looking on the brighter side of things,” Beckham said. “And I’m hoping that it’s a tremendous season for us. We were so close last year, but yet so far away, and it shows you how being so close can land you from 10-6 to 6-10, you know? It’s really a game of inches. So it’s just little things we need to correct. I’m excited about the opportunity, excited to work on it.”

  1. What was he supposed to say? Hes still the same Odell when they start their losing ways.

  2. I am hoping the front office announces the Browns are open to trade offers for him. Can’t be trusted. Let him do his thing somewhere else.

  3. 10-6, so at least he stopped claiming they’ll be a Patriots-like SB dynasty as he did last June.

  4. The Browns have become the second Cowboys and every year we hear they are in a good place, they will win it all bla bla bla, till the season starts

  5. Beckham and Landry went from “Come Get Me” to “Can’t wait till the 2020 Season” pretty fast during those last few weeks of the season. I can’t wait until the real story of the Freddie Kitchens era comes out in a few years. You could pretty much tell half the team was thinking about retiring if he stayed. Joe Thomas cried on TV talking about how much he loved playing for Hue Jackson so at least you knew even without the success the players respected him. Every player talking about Kitchens looked and sounded like they wanted to punch a wall, not to mention the weekly sideline shouting matches.

It’s going to be interesting to see if John Dorsey ever gets a GM job again considering the first team to fired him won a superbowl and the second team to let him walk looks to be in much better shape because of it.

Not in so much the same words, but didn’t he say something like this last year?

No. If you go back to all his post trade interviews it was all about being excited to play with Baker and Landry and there were plenty of reports OBJ and Freddie barely got along from the start.

  7. If we trade or release him before June 1 it will result in no dead money. Just saying. I’d be fine with an extra 4th-rounder.

“Every year”? Yea there was hype at the beginning of this past season but I remember when we tied the Steelers week 1 2018, people were saying “oH aT lEaSt ThEy’Re NoT gOnNa Go 0-16” and there’s no hype this year either. Sadly that was just a 1-year thing.

  9. OBj is getting blasted here but he is right. Thielen and Diggs have done well in that system and if Landry & OBj work like Thielen and Diggs do. Then they will both have a nice season in 2020.

How do we look in better shape? We look like our possible 6-seed window is about to slam shut. Our talent is only here because of Dorsey. Do you KNOW how terrible our roster was under Sashi? Dorsey just didn’t want to go along with DePodesta’s BS and that’s why he was fired. (he didn’t hire Freddy btw)
