The 49ers signed center Jake Brendel on Friday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports.

Brendel signed with the Ravens on Nov. 27 after Matt Skura went on injured reserve with a knee injury. But Baltimore cut Brendel on Dec. 1.

Brendel worked out for the 49ers soon after being waived.

He went undrafted in 2016, signing with the Cowboys as a rookie free agent.

Brendel spent a few weeks on the Cowboys’ practice squad in 2016, and when they cut him, the Dolphins signed him to their practice squad.

Brendel’s only action has come with the Dolphins as he played one game as a rookie, all 16 games in 2017 and four games in 2018. He has made three starts in his NFL career.

He signed with the Broncos in the 2019 offseason but failed to make Denver’s team.

  1. So if Brady wants another ring bad enough he is signing for less than the backup? Who would take Jimmy G. and his contract? Nope, Lynch and Shanahan are stuck with Jimmy.

Jimmy G. took the Niners to the Super Bowl…….in his FIRST full season as a starting QB. That’s more than every other QB in the NFL did, except for Mahomes.

Give it a rest already. Your obsession of the 9ERS is unhealthy. Same hate with lamer takes and comments.

Your still holding onto those old memories of when the old 9ER teams crushed your heart as a kid. Beating your favorite team throughout your childhood. It’s time to let it go

And saint Jimmy blew a 10 point 4th quarter lead as well
……. don’t just tell the side of the story you like

    Jimmy G plays defense?

  5. To all of those bagging on Jimmy G.

Jimmy and the Niners went to the Super Bowl. That’s better than every other team in the NFL, except for the Chiefs. Brady and the Pats were one and done in the playoffs. So was Brees and the Saints. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks didn’t kame it out of the divisional round.

Jimmy does what he’s asked to do, and the team does well. I’d rather my team has a good QB that works well with the team, than a a QB with great stats and a team that goes nowhere (think Marino)

People tend to forget that the NFL is a TEAM SPORT. The team that works well together tends to go the farthest.
