Matthew Stafford’s back “completely healed”

Now that everyone including Matthew Stafford‘s wife has confirmed that he wants to be back with the Lions next season, she’s also confirming that his back is well.

In an Instagram post this morning, Kelly Stafford mentioned that her husband’s back was “completely healed” in January.

The Lions quarterback missed the final eight games of last season after a fracture was found in his back.

Prior to that, he was having an incredible season, with 2,499 yards, 19 touchdowns and just five interceptions in the first eight games.

Having him healthy again gives the Lions something to build around, though it remains unclear if they’ll consider using the third overall pick on another quarterback, so we can start another cycle of wondering about his future.

  1. Stafford is one hit away from retirement healed back or not. The Lions are the most inept and mismanaged franchise in the NFL since 1957.

  2. The Lions are complete & total hot mess. Stafford is done, by the time this team is finished fielding a complete team (3-5 years with consistent drafting) Stafford will be done. The Lions should have drafted a QB last year or the year prior to that.

  3. Matt Stafford was very wise to stand down last season so this healing could take place and no further damage done.

    _____________

He’s being “standing down” for 12 seasons. He has yielded ZERO playoff wins and there isn’t going to be any playoffs wins any time soon in that dumpster fire in Detroit.

Well said, the Lions can’t beat the Bears or the Packers, probably not the Vikings neither. With Khalil Mack on the Bears – Stafford should just retire. Mack literally pushed the Lions top lineman to the ground with one hand to get to Stafford. Just a total embarrassment in Detroit!

The Bears have improved to a top team in that division with the Khalil Mack trade and the Raiders continue to rebuild a solid team. Great trade for both parties!
