Report: Dolphins interested in several impending Patriots free agents

The Dolphins hired head coach Brian Flores away from the Patriots last year and they’re reportedly interested in potentially adding some players with ties to New England to the team this year.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that several members of the 2019 team have caught their eye. Per Jackson, the team holds Patriots left guard Joe Thuney in “high regard.” They are not the only team that could make a play for Thuney and his price tag will likely be a high one due to the anticipated interest in his services.

They reportedly have made it known that they’re interested in center Ted Karras, who stepped in for David Andrews last season. They are also said to have “some degree of interest” in safety Devin McCourty.

In addition to those current Patriots, Jackson also reports that former Patriots and current Titans cornerback Logan Ryan is a player on their radar with the start of the league year a couple of weeks away.

Quarterback Tom Brady is another prominent Patriot on track for free agency, but there’s no sign that the team is looking in that direction.

  1. Though Miami is attractive to Brady, like SD … he would get killed behind that offensive line. He wont leave NE but would Arians try to get him in TB ?
They have everything but a RB on offence.
The defence still has to improve, though

  2. Well, the Dolphins did tank to get draft picks and cut salaries and have a lot of cap space. I hate to see them get rewarded for that. Sometimes guys sign big money deals and play elsewhere and never play as well. So there is that Miami…

  3. That isn’t how the Patriots do things. Just because you have the cash doesn’t mean you waste it. Use it on players that are under 28 and have some good years left. Don’t pay tme for what they did in NE cause those days are over.

  4. Sounds like the clown show that exists in Detroit right now. Quinn and Patricia like Patriot rejects too.

  5. Joe Thuney would be a great addition to the rebuild of Miami’s O line he brings toughness and leadership and he’s only 27.

  6. I’m sure teams will overpay for those guys only to find out those guys are only interested in the paycheck and will be just like Nate Solder.

  7. I have no problem with the Dolphins investing in the offensive line. Please get a LT, G, C and RT! A real DE would be a nice touch. How about another OLB or even ILB. RB, CB, RB, S, but please get the QB position right.

  8. 1. Karras = Yes
    2. Thuney = Yes (If the price isn’t too high)
    3. McCourty = No (Too old)
    4. Ryan = Maybe (Depending on $)

  9. Thuney and Karras yes (esp. Thuney, though they’ll likely have to overpay…not that the Fins haven’t done that before! You know, Suh?), but what about Van Noy? (though they do have good LBs, but danggit they need edge rushers!)

  10. Yep, like I thought … Arians wants Brady and 47 people disagreed … haha
