The Ravens now have a major hole in the offense that propelled them to such success last season.

According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, Ravens guard Marshal Yanda has decided to retire.

The 35-year-old Yanda had been debating whether to continue for the final year of his contract, but chose to walk away after 13 years.

He went to eight Pro Bowls, and was an example of the draft-and-develop-and-retain strategy the Ravens have benefited from in the past. The former third-round pick was a cornerstone for their run game, starting 166 of 177 games.

  1. Every team deserves a Yanda.

Been a monster with an unstoppable motor for every play he was ever involved in.

Easily a hall of famer talent wise.

Shame a handful of those Ravens teams fell short he deserved a ring or 2 more.

  2. Not ideal, but he had a great career. But hey, at least our QB isn’t jerking us around like some tormented fanbases are experiencing.

  3. Yanda was a beast, congrats young man on a great career. Baltimore did him right and he did the organization right as well. A happy ending for all, doesn’t happen often in the NFL

  4. Thanks Marshal, you exhibited what it means to ‘play like a Raven.’ See you in Canton.

  5. Congrats to a warrior! Best wishes for a happy and healthy retirement.
