The Seahawks are promoting Dave Canales and Austin Davis, Albert Breer of SI.com reports.

Canales will go from quarterbacks coach to pass-game coordinator, while Davis will become the quarterbacks coach after spending last season as an offensive assistant.

Davis, 30, becomes the youngest quarterbacks coach in the NFL, per Breer.

Davis, who was Russell Wilson‘s backup in 2017, had drawn interest from outside the organization.

Davis started 10 NFL games, going 3-7 with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in his career.

Canales, 38, served as the Seahawks’ quarterbacks coach the past two years. He was with Seahawks coach Pete Carroll at USC before going to Seattle with Carroll in 2010.

Canales coached the team’s receivers from 2010-17.

  1. Seahawks are seriously declining, the Hawks have so many holes to fill over the off-season and not enough resources to fill them all needing to rebuild large parts of the defense including the defensive line and large parts of the offense including practically the entire offensive line and RB.

  2. Good for AD. Has to be quite a guy if he can coach a qb who is

    1. Older than him, and

    2. One of the top 5 QBs in any given year.

The Seahawks are getting better…their offense will only improve with Will Dissly returning, Greg Olson coming in, and Chris Carson on the mend…Seattle will load up on defense in free agency and the draft…Russell Wilson is at the top of his game and is still getting better….

Yikes. They were 1 win shy of the NFC championship last season WITH all of the holes you’re referring to, oline issues, etc.

No resources? They have a ton of cap space and (as it stands currently) 8 draft picks.

The fantasy you’re describing of the Hawks ‘seriously declining’ is just that…a fantasy. There is no question they have areas that they must improve in (who doesn’t?), but as long as Wilson is at QB they will be competitive. End of story.
