Titans, Ryan Tannehill close to new contract

Ryan Tannehill may not hit free agency.

The Titans and Tannehill are on the verge of agreeing to a multi-year contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The Titans had been viewed as a possible destination for Tom Brady in free agency, but if the Tannehill deal gets done before the start of free agency, that would cross the Titans off Brady’s list.

Getting Tannehill done now would also free up the Titans’ franchise tag and allow them to use it on running back Derrick Henry.

Last year, when Tannehill arrived in Tennessee, it was to be a backup to Marcus Mariota. Now the Titans are poised to let Mariota walk, and give Tannehill a lucrative contract that makes him the franchise quarterback in Tennessee for years to come.

  1. I cant imagine this goes well for the Titans. Hes not a horrible qb but hes not great either and last year is likely his career year.

  2. Franchise Derreck Henry is a huge mistake. The Chiefs pounded him into submission. Every other team was scared of Henry, but The Kansas City Chiefs hit him, hit him again and again until he quit and surrendered.

  3. I think most of the Brady to(multiple teams) was mostly smoke created by Brady’s agent to try and create buzz and drive up his price.

  4. Smart move by Tennessee.

The guy has gotten better every year.

Great arm talent. Keep improving and hold that lead next time and you might be in the SB.

  5. Obviously Brady’s not going to the Titans now. I think this puts Tampa Bay in a strong position to sign him. Arians wants him desperately. They just need to convince Tom and Giselle to live there.

  6. This was the best fit for Brady. Not looking good for the Goat.

    Cowboys – Dak town
    Chargers – Watch your blindside
New England – We saw this movie last year
Tampa- Why did Winston throw so many picks? He had to put up 30 points a game.
    LV Raiders – a gamble

Man stop!! The ineffectiveness of Henry had nothing to do with the chiefs defense which was rank 26th against the run. What the Chiefs did was Light up the scoreboard and threaten to do so for throughout the game to the tune of 35 points which then Render the titans running game OBSOLETE..

Since if you want to keep pace with that chiefs offense and not get blown off the field you better start passing the ball since trying to RUN will only have the CLOCK finish the game out on you real quick…

I know many talking heads like to think teams who has a good chance against the Chiefs are the ones who run the ball, Well that could work the other way around as well since the chiefs can run up the scoreboard and force running teams to now play catch up which takes them out of their comfort zone and now they have to be One dimensional.

  8. The Kansas City Chiefs defense pounded Henry until he cried uncle. No other team wanted to hit him, the Chiefs were not scared of him. The Titans had a fairy tale season. but lets face it, they beat a couple of VERY overrated teams for the right to face the Chiefs, and then they found out what a REAL team was. LMAO. Face it, the Titans and Henry got BEAT DOWN
