Andrew Whitworth appears ready to remain with the Rams for the rest of his career.

Whitworth’s agents announced today that Whitworth has agreed to a new three-year contract with the Rams. The 38-year-old Whitworth has been talking about retirement and 2020 could easily be his last season, but even if it isn’t it appears that he’s committed to staying with the Rams as long as he keeps playing.

Whitworth has started all 16 games at left tackle for each of the last two seasons and has been one of the most dependable players on the Rams’ offense. The Rams didn’t want to lose Whitworth, and he didn’t want to leave.

  1. 3 years for a 38 year old tackle. That’s one heck of a commitment unless he’s making near league minimum.

  2. This is a risky signing. He led the league in holding penalties last year and that is usually a sign you are getting beat due to age. Either that or he may have been hiding a injury. This may have been the best they can do because of cap restraints but it definitely means they have nothing better already on the roster. Yikes!!!

  3. Put a fork in them the Rams are done. 4 players on defense can’t win games. Add a new DC, a broken down RB, and a 38 year old tackle is a recipe for a losing season.

  4. So funny how little folks know about the Ram roster. Four players on D? Lets see: Taylor Rapp, John Johnson, Jalen Ramsey, Micah Kiser, Clay Matthews, Troy Hill, A’ntwan Robinson, Greg Gaines, Sebastian Joseph-Day, David Long, Leonard Floyd, Marquis Christian, Samson Ekuban. Oh, and that Donald guy, #99. Bring it on!
