Report: Cowboys interested in Emmanuel Sanders

The Cowboys re-signed Amari Cooper this week, but Randall Cobb is off to Houston and that leaves them with a hole to fill in their receiving corps.

One option to fill that hole appears to be Emmanuel Sanders. Jane Slater of NFL Media reports that the team has expressed interest in Sanders and that Sanders, who went to college at SMU in Dallas, has interest in playing for the team.

Sanders split last season between Denver and San Francisco thanks to a midseason trade that sent him to the 49ers. Sanders caught 36 passes for 502 yards and three touchdowns in 10 regular season games with the Niners and added five more catches for 71 yards in the playoffs.

Michael Gallup, Devin Smith and Cedrick Wilson join Cooper as wideouts currently under contract with the Cowboys.

  1. Another attempt to recycle an old guy. Sanders should pick a team he can help in the playoffs and sign a team friendly deal to win another Super Bowl. As in stay with the 9ers

  2. This would certainly replace Cobb’s production if they can land him. Cooper, Gallup, Sanders would be an awesome receiving corps. The defense is still quite suspect…..we need to add at least 3-4 quality players along the defensive line or the results will be the same.

  3. If he had caught that long pass in the Super Bowl, he may have a brand new contract with Frisco already. Right now he is more likely to move on if he wants more money than Frisco is willing to offer.

So it’s Jimmy G’s fault he’s not getting a contract? Called an overthrow, not a dropped pass. Contender for top 100 dumbest comment in my 15 years on this website.

  5. I think Sanders would be a great pick up. Certainly as good, or better than Cobb was. Who wouldn’t like a chance to return to your home state and play where you went to college. I think it’s a win, win for Sanders and the Cowboys.

  6. Hope the 49ers at least make a competitive offer to him. You’ve sunk 3rd and 4th round picks into him. The offense completely changed when he came on board. Sign him.
