Bills announce Stefon Diggs trade is official

Stefon Diggs is officially a Buffalo Bill.

The trade sending Diggs from the Vikings had been reported early this week, but teams were slow to make moves official as players needed extra time to get physical exams conducted amid the coronavirus pandemic. Today the Bills officially announced it.

Diggs will be the Bills’ No. 1 receiver and should provide a big boost to their offense, although the question remains whether quarterback Josh Allen will become an accurate enough passer to make use of Diggs’ skills.

The Bills gave up their first-round draft pick along with fifth- and sixth-round picks this year and a 2021 fourth-round pick to get Diggs and a 2020 seventh-round pick. It was an aggressive move for a Bills team that thinks it’s ready to win the AFC East. The Vikings are getting a lot of draft capital back, but they’ve lost a major playmaker who won’t be easy to replace.

  1. Diggs is a great player, but unless he is the absolute, unquestioned, focal point of that offense, you are going to see sideline outbursts, awol during weekly meetings and practices, and of course, tweets that are all about him.

If the game is on the line, Allen better be pinpoint accurate, and to Diggs, otherwise the Bills are going to quickly regret this decision.

  2. He won’t be easy to replace but he was underutilized anyway. A rookie from this deep WR draft and a low-price veteran free agent along with Adam Thielen will give you a solid WR corps. I’ll miss Diggs but he expects perfection from everyone but himself. It’s pretty annoying to hear him complain about being missed when he was open on a deep route while the QB is running for his life, but the QB isn’t complaining about the interception he threw because a perfect ball to Diggs bounced off his facemask.

    Good luck, Josh Allen.

  3. Good move for the Bills and BillsMafia. Diggs will produce with a lot of short plays and turn them in to big ones to make up for any Allen inaccuracies

  4. Enjoy the key drops, fumbles and eventual headache when he realizes he was better off with the Vikings.

  5. Josh will miss him, alot. With that said, Diggs will turn back to his cry baby ways and start his usual bs. Notice we haven’t heard from Diggs but once? He never thought a trade might stick him in Buffalo!!! Enjoy the cold in that oversized, crumbling high school stadium.

  6. With the trade being official now, that means the Vikings officially have 12 picks in this year’s draft.

Thank you Buffalo for picks #22, 155 and 201 in this year’s draft and your 4th rounder in 2021.

That and a 3rd round and 2 7th round comp picks give Spielman a lot of ammunition to replace a mercurial WR.

Diggs has a lot of talent when he chooses to focus on the game, but he has proven to be easily distracted.

  7. Diggs said he is jazzed to be here. This Allen inaccuracies is way overblown. Last season, he improved dramatically from his rookie year. Hes been training with Jordan Palmer all offseason, who said he’s improving greatly, especially downfield, when he shone yr 1. Diggs will get with the program. It’s like NE in that respect. Team first. I’m sure they talked about it before the trade. Diggs is also a few yrs older. With age often comes maturity. I’m not concerned. Beane is no dummy. McDermott is no walk over.

  8. If he was unhappy with Cousins, wait until he sees Josh Allen’s random scattershots twelve feet over his head,

  9. I’m sure Diggs will be happy now. Malcontents are always happy when they get traded to somebody else. Ain’t that right, OBJ?

Dude, you have obviously been completely ignoring everything with this malcontent for at least a year or more. Diggs just had his best season as a Viking, and they beat a 13-3 team in the playoffs. So what, exactly, is it that makes you think Diggs will suddenly be a happy go lucky WR?

  11. I think this wasn’t a bad move by the Bills. They need to see what they have in Allen because the Bills fanboys can defend him all they want but Josh Allen was a bottom tier QB by almost every available metric we have in evaluating a QB. He needs to put up this year and if he can’t with this very solid receiving core he has now, the Bills will move on from him next year. He has one of the better slot receivers, deep threats and one of the most sure handed WR in the NFL on his team now, the excuses are gone

  12. Yeowch….becarefjl what uou ask for. Buffalo could end up being a great team….but for him? I don’t think that’s what he had in mind?

  13. All these people talking about Josh Allen’s accuracy without backing it up with facts are just angry that Vegas or Vikes didn’t draft him. His 15-20 yard throw accuracy greatly improved last year, and his protecting the ball also improved when compared to his rookie year.

Let’s not let facts get in the way of a good smear campaign though!

  14. Congrats to the Bills, for signing the biggest Diva in the League! Dis guy is one Whiny ass Biotch.

  15. Diggs is a great player and should produce for the Bills. If Allen isn’t accurate, keep in mind that Diggs is one of the best contested catch WRs in the game. I’m not sure his numbers will be that much better than with the Vikes as the Bills are also a running team and Allen doesn’t have Cousin’s deep throw accuracy (Diggs is best on deep routes). I suspect Diggs will be just fine this year even if his production goes down, but the guy is one weird volatile dude, so who knows? His production will be missed in MN, not his attitude.

  16. I never once thought I would ever grow to really really dislike the Vikings fanbase. The way that they have been dealing with the Diggs trade to Buffalo though all over social media these last few days has opened my eyes as to what kind of fanbase and people that they truely are. It’s gone well beyond the normal hurt over a player asking to leave and even beyond normal fan competitiveness.

  17. Didn’t see any facts there Skol…Still sore about that game Allen’s rookie year at Min? Didn’t he completely jump over the Vikes linebacker? The Vikes were heavily favored in that one, weren’t they?

    Don’t believe the false narratives.

  18. At first i was thinking thats alot of picks but really its just a 1st and 4th because the 5-7 really dont matter as the cleveland teller trade added 2 and 7th rarely matter

  19. If Diggs becomes Josh Allen’s security blanket with accuracy the Trade is a win/win for both teams.

  20. I’m looking at this trade as Buffalo trading their first pick for Diggs. The other pieces are a coin flip. Still seeing Buffalo getting back to draft early 2nd. round.

dbluv, its easy to back up. Nice try

Both John Brown and Cole Beasley had career bests last season with Allen at QB. Expect Diggs to enjoy the same success. Beasley should have a monster year with Diggs and Brown on the outside. Good luck manning up both of them with single coverage.

How is he any bigger of a diva than Thielen? He’s gone after Belicheck, Cousins, coaches, etc., on field/sidelines during games.

  23. He’ll be real happy in the early to mid fall days, but when the snow flies it will be a different story. He will slip and slide and get missed a few times and then the pouting starts. They’ll blame it on Josh but it will be Diggs in the wrong place because of no traction.

Brown and Beasley were #2 and #3 WR on the teams before the Bills and they were #1 and #2 WRs with the Bills, its not a real shock they got more targets in Buffalo and in turn had better seasons. Also Josh is one if the least accurate QBs at throws over 25yd and with Diggs being a downfield WR I don’t see him having a banner year in Buffalo or anywhere close to it, he’ll be crying for Cousins by week 6!

  25. Diggs will help Josh Allen turn the corner because Diggs wants to be great and with Josh Allen’s big arm Diggs will set records and with Diggs range, Allen will be a more accurate QB.

  26. Hey Steve…The reason for Allen’s inaccuracy on throws over 25 yards can be summed up by your own statement. No matter how much I love Brown & Beasley, neither is a bonafide #1 receiver, & lack the ability to track the deep ball in the air…This is a skillet Diggs has in abundance. Watch some of the deep throws from Kirk when he was under duress, and you can clearly see Diggs making route adjustments. I expect an increase in Allen’s long ball accuracy based on this.

  27. Hey Buffalo got their guy. I think Diggs is going to be great for the Bills. And he will be a fan favorite in quickly. Enjoy him while he is there Buffalo. I did for the Vikings- Skol. That Vikings throwback #14 will still be popular.

  28. When is the last time a malcontent/diva WR got traded or went to another team in FA and then proceeded to be a model citizen on his new team? I honestly cant remember. A tiger doesnt change its stripes.

  29. Terrell Owens spent a quiet year with the Bills, but I never viewed him as a malcontent, Joker. There are plenty of examples other than this if you look…And not just at the WR position…Look at Shady moving from Philly, or Beastmode in Seattle.

Heck….even Ritchie Incognito behaved during his second stint in Buffalo……at least for a 2-3 years…
