Jamie Collins on Tom Brady leaving Patriots: “I still don’t believe it”

Jamie Collins has left the Patriots twice, once when he was traded to the Browns in 2016 and again this month when he signed with the Lions. But Collins never thought he’d see Tom Brady leave New England.

Collins, the linebacker who recently arrived in Detroit, told reporters there that he was stunned the Patriots and Brady didn’t find a way to stay together.

“Oh, man,” Collins said, via the Detroit Free Press. “I still don’t believe it.”

Collins said he hopes the Bucs can build a great team around Brady.

“I hope he gets everybody he needs and deserves cause he definitely deserves it,” Collins said. “It don’t feel real, man. I just can’t wait to see it. I need to see it on Sunday.”

Collins will get to see it in person this season, as the Lions will host the Buccaneers.

  1. None of us do. So strange that the Patriots wouldn’t pay the man to play another two years. Something else must be going on there that we are unaware of…

  2. Brady’s ego went off the tracks. The photo of him signing his contract is stunning. He looked like he was just told he was gifted a sports car at his 16th birthday party.

At some point, come probably October and into November, if they can start the season on time, Brady will be pulling into the facility in TB asking himself why he just did what he just did.

  3. The Pats needed to get value at the position and restructure the team financially if they are not going to challenge for a Super Bowl this year, which they probably (still hard to say ‘definitely’ with Belichick at the wheel) won’t. They need to get back to the mantra that no one player is greater than the team, even if that player is Tom Brady. They obviously like Stidham’s upside. They got a couple more SB’s with the GOAT, so that worked out well.

Brady also needs to scratch this itch to play away from Bill and see what he can add to another team. He’s a player/coach on offense at this point, and as for attitude and effort, he’ll be bringing it 100%. It won’t be the ultimate answer to this years-long “what if” riddle because he’s 43, not 33, but life is never perfect even if it looks like Brady’s has been so far. It will be very interesting to see what he can do in TB. He’s not going into it all broken down physically due to the extreme care he puts into his body.

  4. Brady didn’t want to be there anymore. Made up his mind awhile ago. Belichick was ready to move on too. It’ll be fun to see what happens. I don’t care how old he is, Brady with a new chip on his shoulder is a very dangerous man. I think he’s epic in TBay. Hope he wins it all.

  5. I just can’t imagine Belichick doesn’t have a plan “B”.
Hopefully, he’s able to pull an enormous rabbit out of his hat.
With the amount of talent that has left the team in the last couple of weeks, I’m not sure what this year holds.

    “amount of talent”, eh?

Outside of Van Noy, just who represents this incredible and damaging “amount of talent”?

    Hmm?

Where were you raving about how great Ted Karras, Elandon Roberts, Dorsett, Duron Harmon, etc, all were in recent years?

Hmm? Because I don’t recall anyone saying a word about their greatness in NE while they were there.

Don’t let the media speak for you. Do your own homework, because you’ll end up with the right answers such as:

Wynn is healthy at LT and played very well.

David Andrews, arguably the best Center in the AFC, returns.

Pro Bowl FB and the leagues’s best, James Develin probably returns. Slater, both McCourtys return. Stability is there. Edelman and Sanu will probably be healthy again.

The very good RB group is there. The O Line in in tact. They had some sneaky good FA signings like Adrian Phillips S/LB hybrid and Derek Wolfe along the DL.

John Simon is a sneaky good, 3-4 OLB and will likely take on more reps on the strong side in Van Noy’s spot, with Winowich on the weak side. Bentley can play more at MLB.

Obi Melifonwu was the highest paid STs player in the NFL last year for a reason, so if BB wants to go TWO hydbrid Safeties with Adrian Phillips in a light formation on 3rd and long, maybe he can do that a lot easier. NE could have an even better defense next year than this past year.

If Stidham is even remotely as mediocre as Brady was last year with no attitude, that’s also a win with Harry and Meyers, and possibly Olezecksi in the slot with more time to develop.

They need TE, no doubt. 12 picks, 3 in the 3rd rd and a redshirted 2019 draft class. Watch out.

11-5 with Stidham, they win the division.

  7. Brady made up for a lot of the lack of talent of the years. Despite missing OTAs(#joke). Love the homers rose colored glasses. The whole team doesn’t deserve to be in the Pro Bowl. Yes, they have 12 draft picks. Half are in the 6th/7th round. They have found some gems there, and UFAs, but it’s not the norm. They’re gonna run the FB, play D and hide the QB position. With their schedule, they’ll be lucky to go 9-7. Buffalo wins the division, hands down. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay is a Super Bowl contender.

  8. The pressure will be on Brady this season to prove he was not just a product of the Patriots system.

  9. No pressure on Brady. All the haters will be running and hiding. Good luck with the new usernames, cowards.

  10. “Matt Cassell was only successful because the team he was on!”

Ten years later, “remember what Matt Cassell did?”

    Worst. Fanbase. Ever.

  11. Been consistent on Brady all day. Enjoyed the ride, would have liked to seen 1 more shot, but excited to see the next chapter. As for p6, the consistent thumbs down should do the talking.

Supposed “fans” talk out of both sides of their mouth. It’s hilarious!

Nope. I can produce emails and comments posted in 2011 when I about had enough of the 2 INT+ games as he threw games away. People have awful memories or simply don’t pay attention to reality.

Tom Brady is not a 100% perfect human being like some Pats will try to tell you he is.

Then BB drafted JimmyG worked with him daily, Brady got scared and got down to business again.

    Thanks BB!

I have an idea since I love winning bets and I do it a lot wit annoying little people in this world who can’t think for themselves and are easily led by the internet and social media.

When you run your mouth as ignorantly as this, you will be called out, little guy. Brady was HORRIBlE last year after Brown was released. THAT, I know. I was vacationing in Chicago on business in a Pats bar and could not believe how bad Brady was in the Philly game, for example. A game NE still won on the road, and that was November.

Guess who didn’t avoid throwing a TD to Dorsett? Edelman. LOL

That’s how bad Brady’s antics were. They had to use Edelman as a QB to throw a TD from the 12 yard line because Brady refused to look at him and deliver the ball.

If what you say is true, with Buffalo and the scary Josh Allen winning the division, “hands down”, I leave this board with no commentary of any kind for a month.

If you lose, you leave these boards for the remainder of the postseason, including the SB.

    Deal?

Buffalo will be like Jax in 2018. Fall right off, and slowly fade. Same thing with Tenn as they just dealt away their best defender, right down the middle in Jurrell Casey.

PS With so many picks in multiple rds, this means BB can move up get Patriots style players. Get it? It doesn’t mean he has to stay put and take a player in the 6th or 7th or even the 3rd.

    My goodness are you clueless.

Won’t need to. I had family telling me to send my analysis to BB after the SB 46 debacle.

Then BB drafted JimmyG, Brady realized his job was on the line, stopped dressing up with different haircuts for Giselle and jumping off of cliffs in Costa Rica on Instagram, and got down to business again to be the old Brady. But, that ego got really big after the Atlanta SB and his 2017 MVP season. REALLY big.

Moss, Welker, Butler….now Brady……All dealt or walked away from due to an exploding ego and inflated opinion of themselves on the market.

  16. I have been reading Ted Murph for a decade or more it seems. He’s never once “run his mouth”.

I don’t think 2020 matters one iota in determining the relative value Brady or Belichick brought to the Patriots unprecedented twenty year NFL reign. The both go down as GOATS in my view.

I wish Brady and Belichick the best. I would love to see them meet in the super bowl and who wouldn’t?
