Bengals are “set” at quarterback with Burrow, Finley, Dolegala

If it’s not a good year to have a young quarterback because of the lack of on-field work this offseason, the Bengals are in trouble. Their oldest quarterback is Ryan Finley, who is 25.

Their most experienced quarterback is Finley, who had three starts, no wins and 87 attempts as a rookie.

The Bengals released Andy Dalton on April 30 after drafting LSU’s Joe Burrow with the No. 1 overall choice. They also have Jake Dolegala, who signed as an undrafted rookie in 2019 but didn’t see any action last season as the No. 3 quarterback.

Yet, Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Friday the team will not sign a veteran quarterback.

We’re set,” Taylor said, via Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “We’ve got three young guys we really look forward to investing a lot of reps in. We think they have bright futures. We feel really good about where we’re at right now.”

Taylor, offensive coordinator Brian Callahan and quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher all played quarterback in college. So they will serve as the veteran voices in the quarterbacks room.

  1. It seems like a veteran QB would be a wise investment for this team. Flacco’s is just sitting at home waiting?

  2. Wish you were set at O-Line! Please go after proven lineman to help protect Burrow you have the cap space spend it!

  3. Dallas wishes it could say theyre set too. At least the Cowboys have upgraded at the starting qb slot.

With #4 Dallas has the NFLs premium waterboy as well.

  4. The Bengals are going to stunt his growth. His position coach is a 30 year old who has only coached the position for a year. Burrow’s backups barely have more experience than he has. In the least, bring in a seasoned, winning QB like Flacco to watch his back and serve as a sounding board.

  5. If it’s not a good year to have a young quarterback because of the lack of on-field work this offseason

Since most teams look like crap until week 3-4 even with a full off-season of practice and 4 pre-season games I think this just may level the field a little since it looks like no one is going to get much work in before the season starts and that’s horrible news for us fans, crappy games a plenty will be the norm this year!

I really feel for anyone that bought season tickets this year, there’s probably gonna’ be a lot of UGLY football played this season!
