The Eagles have interest in adding a veteran running back with Jordan Howard having left in free agency.

Carlos Hyde remains among the veteran running backs still on the market, and one of the last remaining players on PFT’s original top-100 free agents list.

The Eagles are targeting Hyde, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.

The Eagles currently have Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, Elijah Holyfield, Corey Clement and undrafted rookies Adrian Killins and Michael Warren at the position.

Hyde, 29, had his first career 1,000-yard season in 2019, rushing for 1,070 yards and six touchdowns with Houston.

Hyde has played for the 49ers, Jaguars, Browns and Texans. He spent time with the Chiefs during training camp last year before they traded him to Houston.

  1. As a Buckeye and Browns fan, he would be a good luck up. Hard working and God team mate, a win win. God bless and stay healthy.

  2. I hope they sign him. Hes not great, but above average in all phases. We need a veteran that has some size and I think he would complement sanders and bosco very well.

  3. In 4 seasons Wentz has 0 playoff wins 48 regular season Fumbles. He is 7-20 vs teams over 500. He has no heart no desire to win he has the IQ of a potato. His teammates hate him. he has started 5-6 in 3 of his first 4 seasons. Nick Foles is 24-6 in his last 30 games as an Eagle.

  4. Unless he’d be fighting for a legit spot I dont understand. We have Sanders, Clement as our starters. We have Scott behind them also. I suppose he could fight for time with Clement, but Sanders should be our primary.

  5. He’s one of those guys who seems to be productive when he gets a chance, but he never really gets much PT. I fee like he’s on a different team every year, does he have character issues?

  6. Dont need him…..sign AP once the Redskins cut him…he’s proving to be the Energizer bunny.

  7. They need a short yardage guy. But, if they wanted him that bad, he’d be signed by now.

  8. Yup, that’d assure us of a 11-5 record and a deep run in the playoffs…

  9. It’s not rocket science. It’s a good depth signing…the football equivalent of an innings-eating pitcher. He’s got goal line chops, too.

  10. Alfred Blue is still available too – and he’s even bigger than Hyde, and since Blue is not coming off a thousand-yard season, he would be cheaper than Hyde.

  11. He’s a solid running back. The Eagles have few descents young backs already, so I’m not sure how much money they’re willing to spend on Hyde. Sanders is a top dog. Boston Scott looked good last year, and undrafted Michael Warren is talented too. But Hyde is too good to be bouncing around like he is.
