Patrick Mahomes is the favorite to win MVP award

He won the regular-season MVP award in 2018, and the Super Bowl MVP award in 2019. He’s the favorite to do the first one again.

Caesars Sportsbook has installed Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as a 4-1 favorite to win the award.

Next on the list is Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, the 2019 regular-season MVP. Jackson has 13-2 odds to win the award for a second straight year.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott follows at 9-1. Then comes Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson at 12-1.

Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray have 16-1 odds. Saints quarterback Drew Brees is a 20-1 bet. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has a 25-1 number. Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is 28-1.

The non-quarterback with the shortest odds is Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, at 40-1. Quarterbacks have won the award every year since 2012, when then-Vikings running back Adrian Peterson stole the prize from Peyton Manning by nearly breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record.

Mahomes’ bid for a second straight MVP award were derailed by a knee injury that caused him to miss several games. If healthy all year, he’s a safe bet to win.

Still, Murray at 16-1 is intriguing; he quietly had a spectacular rookie season. With receiver DeAndre Hopkins now on the team Murray’s could be much better.

Rodgers is a sneaking good play at 25-1. He’ll be pissed about the team’s draft, and he’ll be motivated to prove any internal and external doubters wrong. Holding him back, however, could be a lack of weaponry.

Here’s the full list, which has Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky at 250-1 and Bears quarterback Nick Foles at 100-1.

  1. What about Tua? Best QB prospect in 40 years!

  2. How sad that a team has to trade up in the first round to draft a quarterback in a desperate attempt to motivate its current quarterback to return to MVP level.

  3. I don’t understand the odds this season for the Cowboys. First they are ranked in the top 5 for Super Bowl odds, and now Dak is #3 on MVP odds. WTF is going on lol. Vegas just wants these Cowboys fans’ money.

  4. I’d definitely put the odds Mayfield, Burrow or Herbert get the MVP above Lamar the RB, Dak The Back up, Mediocre Wilson and Frodo Murray.

  5. He has my vote.anyone who sucks for 3 quarters then throws 1 pass and gets the MVP has my vote….right

  6. Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota are in the top two choices for this year’s MVP selection.

Sure wish we had some talent on defense to give them some help though. My unhealthy obsession with losing Khalil Mack and getting fleeced by the Bears will never go away!

  7. How did Peterson “steal” the award from Manning? Manning was good. Earned 19.5 of the votes. But Peterson earned 30.5. Now, if you said Peterson “whipped” Manning in votes, that would be accurate…

  8. Good god who in the wide world of sports is setting odds at Ceaser’s sportsbook? Dak at 9 to 1 hahahahaha I guess there more hardcore Cowboy fans who believe in fairy tails that I knew about.

  9. Aaron is not thinking about MVP, but he may get another one, along with another ring, which is the main focus. This TEAM was 13-3 last season, and in the NFC Championship. The TEAM is highly motivated and out for blood this season.

“He’ll be pissed about the teams draft”

Actually Aaron is quite pleased with the draft and the additions of AJ Dillon and Josiah Deguara among others. Dillon as the Thunder to Aaron Jones lightning and Deguara who is a player that Matt LaFleur dreamed about getting for his offense. Those are 2 players that can provide immediate impact to the offense. The last thing Aaron needed or wanted is a rookie WR to train with little or no offseason.

Aaron also welcomes Jordan Love and the ignorant in the peanut gallery will be taught yet another lesson in late July when training camp opens.

  10. I don’t understand why my Bills traded up to get Trash Allen, he’s completely useless.

  11. Bring on the haters. Josh Allen wins the MVP with two 1000 yd. receivers to aid him (Diggs and Brown), Cole Beasley, continuity both on the offensive line and at the O.C., his 23 year legs and a 1-2 punch at running back with Singletary and rookie smash mouth runner Zack Moss

You got embarrassed by the Niners, twice and one of those times was the NFCC game. So what, the only reason you won the division is because of those close margins of victory given to you by the refs.

There is a massive problem in Green Bay (much bigger than the Packers getting help from the refs all the time) and that problem is Aaron Rodgers. It’s been snowballing since the baby diva QB got McCarthy fired.

  13. And you dummies think Dak shouldn’t be paid. Proof is in the pudding. Real football people know his value.

    ++++++

Less sad than an entire fanbase pretending for 4 years they were relevant as Super Bowl Contenders with qb’s like Bradford, Keenum and Cousins.

    250-1? Why so high?

Could it have something to do with the fact that he’s a bad QB who is likely getting benched this year?

  16. Patrick Mahomes is awesome. I wish the Vikes had him. The Chiefs were smart to draft this guy.

    _________

You know what’s even sadder, a fan base so butt hurt and filled with bitterness with their team’s own historical shortcomings, that they find it necessary to bring up the Packers, their great tormentors, in just about every single PFT post no matter how incidental the story may be about them.
Every time I realize one of you Barneys have your pigtails in a twist again, just amuses me.
But it doesn’t make your story any less sad.

  18. Florio just loves Murray.

    QB 1) Record of 6-6, 60.6% completion, 3271yds, 21TDs, 6INTs
    QB 2) Record of 5-10-1 64.4% completion 3722yds 20TDs, 12INTs.

One QB is Gardner Mischew and one is Murray. Which one had the better season? Not even sure Murray was the best rookie QB let alone to get MVP consideration.

When is the last QB to play at an MVP level in Minnesota? I must have lost the name with all the QBs that have won Super Bowls in that rich history of winning with that franchise.

  20. Shouldnt the MVP go by default to Dak Prescott?

    Best Owner
    Best GM
    Best Offensive Line
    Best Running Back
    Best Wide Receiver
    Clearly the Best QB

Cowboys are in line for so many Superbowls they might as well change the Lombardi Trophy to the Jones Cup and the MVP to the Prescott Award.

No sense even having a season really. Everybody knows the 8-8 40 million dollar man is by far the best and most assuredly is deserving of being the highest paid player ever. No way anybody can compete with the Cowboys, well maybe the AAF Eagles….

Prescott for MVP? Hes not even the starting quarterback, first Waterboy ever to he named MVP.

    Prescott? Lmao.

An article mentioned Rodgers, so of course the Viking fans flock like vultures. This one seems salty because his QB wasn’t even mentioned, even though he’s making Rodgers type money.

  22. You got embarrassed by the Niners, twice and one of those times was the NFCC game.
    ——
Dude, your team played the niners a week before us and only scored half as many points. Why are you talking?

It’s more than that. Since 1961 the Vikings have had more HOF quarterbacks than the Packers, more All-Pro quarterbacks than the Packers, and more Pro-Bowl designee quarterbacks than the Packers. What’s their excuse? Could it possibly be they just like picking unnecessary fights?

It isn’t about Florio liking Murray. He loves him some Murray. And Newton. And Prescott. And Mahommes. And Jackson. And Winston. Kaepernick. Wilson. Bridgewater. Loves them all. Hypes them all I to thw modern day Otto Graham….

It’s that OTHER “kind” of QB that gets dumped on at wvery single turn. Minshew could have went 19-0 and thrown 55 TD 0 INT for 9,000 yards. He doesn’t have the right factor for PFT to virtue signal over. Heck, Burrows hasn’t even taken a snap in the NFL and these guys have already declared the kid a bust and made sure to add in there that Mahommes, Jackson, Wilson and Murray are all “the superior players.” Hmmm, wonder what they all have in common that Burrows, Minshew, Brady and Rodgers don’t share……

    Think about it.

  26. So now we are creating MFP awards? PLEASE GOD let them play this year. I’m Jonesing for real sports. Video soccer and Formula 1 aren’t cutting it!!!

  27. Good luck to whomever is betting on this. All it takes is one injury to change who wins. Wentz was the runaway leader in 2017 until his injury is what immediately pops into mind. Now, Mahomes is this year’s fav to win except he missed time last year. Who says he doesn’t miss a few games this year.

  28. Heaven forbid anyone but a QB gets the award … I am going with Wilson if there is a season.

  29. Dak at 9-1 is a joke. Ravens will steam roll through the NFL this year and Lamar will win back to back MVPs

  30. Mahomes will a top 3 preseason pick every year for the MVP for the next 15 years. The Chiefs are just starting a fun run while Mahomes is the QB.
