Several free agents have seen their hunt for a place to play impacted by the shutdown of team facilities amid the COVID-19 pandemic and former Packers and Lions defensive lineman Mike Daniels feels he’s part of that group.

Daniels made an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday and said he thinks the “situation has halted the process” of finding a place to play. He said he’s heard from teams, but the inability to go in for a physical has stopped things from moving any further.

“There’s been a decent amount of interest,” Daniels said. “There’s been soft interest. As in, teams like you but they can’t bring you in and let their doctors check you out.”

Daniels signed with the Lions after being released by the Packers last July. He had 10 tackles and a sack in nine games while missing time due to foot and arm injuries.

  1. He had some great years but is an example of how quickly a career can slide with injuries.

  2. He is going to have to sign a prove it deal. He can play when healthy but it has been 2 years since that has been the case.

  3. I loved the guy but moving on him by Green Bay is looking like the correct decision.

  4. He could just as easily end up back with the Packers, if he’s healthy and the price is right.

  5. I said it back when the Packers let Mike Daniels walk away, The Packers were concerned with the foot injury he sustained mid season 2018. That it was a career damaging injury.
That’s why they never made Daniels an offer. If that hadn’t been the case Mike Daniels would still be a Packer.

  6. The Packers will not be bringing back Mike Daniels. That I can almost guarantee. I love the guy, but it’s not happening.

Mike Daniels was cut by the Packers, he didn’t choose to leave. This isn’t Minnesota.

Mike does indeed want to return to Green Bay: “I’d definitely love to go back to Green Bay. That is my home. That’s definitely a team I’d love to go back to.”
