Ben Roethlisberger gets a trim after throwing with teammates

Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin have said recently that they aren’t concerned with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger being ready to go after last year’s right elbow surgery and a video Roethlisberger posted on Monday won’t change that outlook.

Roethlisberger posted a video that opened with a throwback to him saying that he wouldn’t cut his hair or shave until he was able to throw a “legit NFL pass” to one of his teammates. The video then cuts to a hirsute Roethlisberger throwing passes to teammates JuJu Smith-Schuster, Ryan Switzer and James Conner.

After several passes, the video cuts again to Roethlisberger in a barber’s chair with shorter hair and a trimmed beard that suggests he left the session feeling that he’s throwing passes at the desired level.

Smith-Schuster chimes in to say “he’s back” before the video comes to an end and one imagines Steelers players, coaches and fans are happy to see that development with more than three months to go before the planned start of the 2020 season.

  1. Meanwhile, in Michigan and other places, your business gets shut down for cutting hair.

  2. Big Ben does look much more trim. Wilson put on a little extra coushin to help with the pounding of the NFL. Big Ben looked like he was carry some beer crushing weight the last 4 or 5 years.

  3. I haven’t been able to go to the barber in 2 months and salon owners in my state are getting CPS investingating their kids because they want to open up (with safety precautions). So yeah, good for you Ben.

  4. With Brady out of the AFC, Ben needs to try and get that third championship. The Steelers should rebound this year with him.

  5. I’ve never seen a Hall of Fame quarterback have so many people concerned about his weight. He lost six pounds just by shaving.

Rebound? Oh, you mean once again beating the Browns x2, Bengals x2 and Dolphins and Cardinals?

  7. Ben left throwing session early holding his arm, only to come running back on to the field 10 min later to the cheers of no one.

  8. Ben may have his best year ever. No beatings from last season, and a lot of motivation to prove a lot of people wrong. He looked in pretty good shape in that video.

  9. I don’t know 1st hand but I hear jails have released into the community hard criminals to protect them from getting the virus inside the jails. At the same was told a mother of 2 was jailed for re-opening a haircut salon. Seems a bit extreme to me. Happy to see Ben get a haircut… hope he’s not looking at a prison sentence for doing so.

  10. Steelers narrowly missed playoffs last year with their putrid offense sans Big Ben. If they have even a middle of the pack offense this season and their top 5 D from last year stays tight, they will be a dangerous playoff team. Bottom 5 schedule difficulty and no west coast road trips doesn’t hurt either.

  11. Gee I wonder if Brissett is the 4th best QB in the AFC East? I’m sure NE fans say he is Pro Bowl bound.
