Patrick Mahomes the betting favorite to lead NFL in passing yards

The Vegas odds say Patrick Mahomes is showing no signs of slowing down.

Mahomes, the Chiefs quarterback and reigning Super Bowl MVP, is the betting favorite to lead the NFL in passing yards in 2020. At Caesars Sportsbook, Mahomes’ odds are listed at +350.

Leading the league in passing yards is one accomplishment Mahomes does not yet have on his résumé. In 2018, his first year as the Chiefs’ starter, he finished just short of Ben Roethlisberger for the league lead. In 2019, when he missed two games, Mahomes was well short. But this may be the year for Mahomes to do it, especially if he plays 16 games.

The quarterback with the next-best odds is Dak Prescott at +700, followed by Jared Goff at +900. Tom Brady and Matt Ryan are at +1000. Drew Brees, Matthew Stafford and Tom Brady are all at +1400.

Mahomes is also the betting favorite to win the league MVP.

  1. Of course he’s the favorite — with that brutal Chiefs defense Patty will have to pass a lot to try to keep up.

Why can’t fans just enjoy the show, so many back handed fans.

I don’t think they like that they make so much money compared to them.

  3. I would have thought Kyler Murray would have been in the second tier. Another year, DeAndre, and the fact they will be behind quite a bit. I bet he throws the ball all over the yard this fall.

Considering that defense, in just one year, was able to hold their ground to allow that spectacular comeback against Houston, hold NE back enough to win in Foxboro, etc, you might want to reevaluate your definition of brutal there

  5. Something tells me Mahomes could care less about that and more about winning. How often has the passing leader won a Super Bowl? Plus, if you’re throwing that much it means your running game sucks. It’s better to have more of a balance instead of being like Dallas who threw the ball 57% of the time. How did that work out for them? Nine teams had over 600 pass attempts and two more had 597 (Dallas and the Chargers). Who were those teams? Falcons, Panthers, Rams, Bucs, Patriots, Bengals, Dolphins, Eagles and Giants. What do those teams have in common? All (but the Patriots) missed the playoffs. This might be a good story but most QBs (except for the egomaniacs, would be OK never leading the league in passing. Most would take a Super Bowl ring instead. I think Mahomes would gladly take another instead of leading the league in passing.

  6. Who cares. Passing leaders are often on losing teams and forced to throw a lot to come back late in games. Dallas doesn’t want to pay top dollar for their 5k passer and Tampa bay moved on from theirs. Scott Mitchell…

  7. Mahomes is the only untradeable player in the NFL. Yep. The….only…..one…..

  8. Man it’s great to be a life long Chiefs fan. KC has the best player in the NFL and to get to watch Bronco and Raiders fans faces everytime someone talks about Mahomes is priceless. Sorry Chargers fans but you’ve had that same face for the last 30 years.
