Five years after becoming the first overall pick in the draft, quarterback Jameis Winston no longer is a starter. And with 32 teams in the league, it’s no surprise he’s not among Chris Simms’ top 32 quarterbacks for 2020.

Winston just missed the cut. The NFL’s first 30-30 man came in at No. 33 on the list.

If he plays this year, he could go a lot higher, thanks to the tutelage of Saints coach Sean Payton. Last year, Teddy Bridgewater parlayed five starts into a $22 million annual deal with the Panthers.

Winston may not get the chance, if starter Drew Brees stays healthy. But if Brees gets banged up, Winston will have a chance at redemption. And that could change everything for him, like it did for Bridgewater.

  1. Great move to the Saints for Winston. Now that his eyes are fixed I’m sure if he has another shot at it our eyes will be opened wide with a way better TD to INT ratio!

  2. One slot above Stidham who has how many live snaps? Yikes JW. Phil isn’t a fan.

  3. I dont care how many picks he threw. Led the league in passing yards and threw for 33 TDs. He’s better than some of the starting qbs at this moment.

  4. If he gets a chance to play and stinks it up this year he won’t make the list of top 100 QBs.

  5. Actions speak louder than words!
By the actions of all 32 teams, I would say JW is not in the top 64 (32 starters and 32 backups)….
Saints only signed him when no one else would and only at 1.1 million dollars for 1 year… Not a sign of a team that thinks he has much value!

  6. Jameis will be starting over 41 year old Drew Brees by the end of the year.

  7. He has the best chance of re-establishing himself as a starter of any veteran out there. Still young enough and no major injury concerns. If he can get another shot and get his INTs back to even where he was a couple years ago he’s easily top 20 QB if not top 15.
