It’s not a great time to be a free agent running back, but the Eagles are one team with some interest in adding a veteran at the position.

The Eagles have interest in Devonta Freeman and LeSean McCoy, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Both players have been mentioned as possibilities for the Eagles this offseason.

Philadelphia made an offer to Freeman, who so far has been disappointed with the offers he has received and is reportedly considering sitting out the season if he doesn’t get an offer he likes.

McCoy, who played his first six NFL seasons for the Eagles, has not yet received a contract offer but could end up back in Philly.

Miles Sanders led the Eagles in rushing as a rookie last year and is expected to handle the bulk of the running back duties this year as well, but Philadelphia would like to add a veteran who can fill the role that Jordan Howard played last year.

  1. LOL- sitting out the season. Brilliant plan. Because your value will DEFINITELY be higher when you are a year older and haven’t played since 2019.

Good lord, who is advising these players?

You mean the Eagles RB1 and the guy who was blocking Miles Sanders from significant playing time?… That Jordan Howard?

So you’re saying after the Eagles finally gave Sanders a chance to show what he could do and after he played spectacularly you want him to play less and you think that’s going to be a recipe for success?

  4. Shady will sign for 3 million a year to help with the RB workload…not be the main back, but to ease the load for Sanders. Freeman can stay home.

I don’t think that’s what they’re saying at all. It’s more like having a guy with experience who can either give your RB1 an occasional rest so he has fresh legs, or step in if/when an injury occurs.
