According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Packers signed sixth-round pick Jon Runyan Jr. to his rookie deal.

  1. This is going to turn out to be a steal to have gotton Jon Runyan Jr. in the 6th round. Very athletic OL that can play guard or tackle. Jon Runyan is exactly the type of person/player you want on your team as well as in your OL room.

  2. I was very pleased with the Runyan pick, I believe there’s definitely some value with that selection.
And I’m thrilled BG addressed the O-line as overwhelmingly as he did, even if they were all Day 3 picks.
You simply can’t have enough talent in the trenches, it’s the catalyst to making any successful offense go.
Hopefully one or two of these guys can put in some solid contributions in the near future.

  3. The best value-for-dollar is a pick in the fifth round. Beyond that is where you find your diamonds-in-the-rough.

    It could happen.

  4. Jon Runyan Jr. on being a Green Bay Packer:

“I feel so blessed to be put in this situation. I’ve always respected the Packers organization. They always produce winners.”

Respect instilled by his father Jon Runyan Sr.: “It’s TitleTown. I played there against the greats, Reggie White included. I could not be more happy and proud for my son to be a Green Bay Packer. I think it is a really good fit for him.

Runyan, Sr. was known as a rough, tough, and sometimes nasty player during his time in the league. Both father and son say, some of that mentality has rubbed off on the new Packer.

“I remember one time in 8th grade my dad caught me patting some defensive player on the back after he made a good hit and he gave me a stern talking to after that game and told me never to do it again. He molded that offensive line mindset into me.”

Jon Sr. says his son has a chance to be better than he was: “He’s a better athlete than I was. He’s going to give you the same thing day in and day out. A lot of times that consistency and the effort and the studying that goes along it is what coaches look for. The Packers did a good job of picking out one of those guys.”

I love, absolutely love reading stuff like this. I just wish the guy all the luck in the world that our uncertain future affords him a legitimate opportunity to contribute someday.
