Which teams should consider signing Colin Kaepernick?

The NFL generally and collectively seems to be keeping its head low and mouth shut on Colin Kaepernick, but for the unnamed team that recently called Seahawks coach Pete Carroll for information about a visit with Kaepernick from nearly three years ago.

So which teams should be considering Kaepernick? That was the subject of Friday’s PFT Live draft.

Charean Williams and I selected six total teams, but there could be more. Feel free to identify more. Feel free to challenge the ones we identified. Feel free to tell us to stick to sports. (Spoiler alert: We won’t.)

The momentum for making things right with Kaepernick seems stronger than ever. Whether the NFL actually does it remains to be seen. Until it does, however, it will be difficult for the NFL to claim with any credibility that it has had the same awakening that so many others have experienced in the last 18 days.

  1. Jaguars

There’s no fans to piss off.

Only woke people to buy his jersey, and that equals money

  2. Hey Florio since your so concerned about inequality in the workplace you should GIVE your job up to Special K! You know since your white you must have been given your job… It’s like like any White Male ever earned a job…

  3. I’m torn between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Toronto Argos. Both can use a QB and he’d be alright in the CFL.

  4. He might be able to be the backup for Mean Machine. Crew would beat him hands down.

  5. Chargers, Jaguars, Raiders, Browns, Lions, Redskins,..St Louis…oops 🙂

  6. We’re all pulling for you Colin. Just a shame that you’re being shunned because of a peaceful protest.

    Keep being awesome!!!

  7. He already has a job as a professional victim. It pays way more and gets a ton more attention / sympathy then being a player.

  8. Baltimore would be a good fit because Roman is the OC and he could back up Jackson, but he probably won’t be signed there after his gf called the owner a racist. He isn’t a very good passer, so he would need to be in an offense that allows the QB to run alot. No one is going to build an offense around him at age 32 when he isn’t coming off a big year. I suspect he will sign with a team that thinks he can run their offense or a team just looking to sign him and let him compete for a backup job. He isn’t worth alot, so I wonder if he will take the veteran minimum. If not, it doesn’t make sense for a team to sign him for more. It may be good PR in some eyes but it would actually be hurting their roster, allocating that money for a guy who will not likely help that would be a bad business move. Billionaires are not usually bad businessmen.

  9. The Vikings. We won’t be able to win if Mannion had to go in so why is he on the team?

  10. You do realize it’s a two-way thing, and Kaep won’t sign unless he gets the money he wants?

  11. The team that would rather have the press coverage than contend for a championship.

  12. First of all what type of contract is he going to ask for? If it is $15-$20mil/yr, I would say zero.

  13. Offer teams an extra roster spot in they sign Kaepernick. They already do it for international players.

  14. Tampa Bay. No pressure to start since Brady is there and Arians loves a good social cause.

  15. This is the guy who Blaine Gabbert beat out and sent him to the bench !!
He’s not that good of a player and wants a mint to play otherwise he would have been holding the clipboard on a team the past 3 years.

  16. He should’ve went to the AAF or XFL, to show his talents. At this point it doesn’t appear that Colin is interested in playing in the NFL, he’s only focused on being a professional victim with Nike money.

  17. A good fit? He went 8-8,2-6 and 1-10 in the games he started his last three years, His last season he went 1-10 and was benched. Blaine Gabbert, the backup QB, took that same team to a 1-4 record. People will say to look at Kap’s stats. Here’s a game for you… Kap throws for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns by halftime. The second half, only 99 combined yards of offense and no touchdowns. 49ers lost that one, but you have to look at his stats! Yeah, his stats were the same as Trevor Siemien. Tell me where Trevor is now.

  18. Buffalo. Backing up Allen.
    Cardinals. Backing up Murray.
Or… Miami. Back up to Tua once he’s healthy.

Teddy Bridgewater has 3 years not playing, backed up Brees & got to play when Brees was hurt. Earned a starting spot. That’s the best case scenario for Kap at this point. He has to show that he can still play in the right system.

  19. I don’t understand this whole ordeal If he was good enough to bring any team in the league who needs a QB 10+ wins….he would be playing. But he’s not. And he only wants starter money instead of using 1 year to prove he can play and then sign for more money. He’s a martyr….plain and simple.

  20. He’s not good enough to be on an NFL team, period. He sucked then and sucks even more now. I hope he gets a chance so this nonsense can end.

  21. New Orleans, Brees and Kap (like Pee Wee Reese and Jackie Robinson) could make a statement about unity that a divided country could really use right now!

  22. Phillip Rivers has been in the league forever, and he’s considered one of the top QB’s over the last 20 years. He and Kaepernick both have 4 career playoff wins. Alex Smith has half as many playoff wins as Kaepernick. Kaepernick was in and out of the league before he even had a chance to develop, yet he’s won as many playoffs as Phillip Rivers. Oh, but he can’t play football. The racism is blatant.

  23. How many other players didn’t play a down of football for 3 years and then got signed?

If anywhere, it’ll be Baltimore bc of the system and Roman, or the LA Rams, where he can eventually take Goff’s job and Hollywood can drool all over each other as the team goes 2-14.

  24. If a team is looking for a quarterback who can run but not throw well they should consider Tim Tebow. He got dissed first.

  25. If I’m Cam Newton and Kaep gets signed before me, I’m filing a grievance with the NFL.

  26. I can’t feel sorry for a man that was a below average QB and opted out of his contract. Sorry, no tears here.

  27. He opted out folks. He opted out of a contract for more money and didn’t get it.

  28. Not a single NFL player has ever said that Kap is not good enough to play in the NFL. Yet there are lots of amateurs who claim that they know more about football talent than the average NFL player and their conclusion is that Trump is unemployed because he has no talent. This is obviously a blatant attempt to cover up the obvious, and it is very obvious that Kap was blacklisted and he is still blacklisted even after the ccommish paid lip service being wrong about player protests.

There are many teams that can use Kap as a potential starter. That includes New England. They lost Tom Brady and have no bona fide starter on their roster. They signed Brian Hoyer, who was 0-6 in 2017 playing for Frisco as a starter, with a quarterback rating of 74.1. By comparison Kap at least won 1 game starting for Frisco in 2016, which had a worse team than the 2017 team and his quarterback rating was 90. Of course the people who claim that Kap has no talent will still claim that New England is better off with Brian Hoyer and shouldn’t even give Kap a tryout. Other teams that may consider Kap include the Vegas Faders, Miami, Washington, Dallas, New York Giants, Indianapolis, and Jacksonville. They won’t because the league has not yet removed Kap from its blacklist.

  29. IDK. Which teams should consider signing me? Its pretty much the same list and for the same reasons.

  30. Better yet, why doesn’t Kaep himself speak up and talk about how much he loves the game, how he’d love to catch on with any team in any capacity and compete for a starting position, but back up a starter if that’s the way the dice rolled.

Why don’t you stop trying to carry Kaep’s water, Florio, and HOUND him like a real reporter would do until he actually SAYS something about it!?

Yep, Kaep didn’t have ANYTHING to do wi5h his current situation, it was all everyone else’s fault! Bad, bad people!

Typical liberal. Zero accountability, particularly when the subject under consideration is a minority.

  32. Dallas Cowboys. If Kap is willing to take backup money, in my opinion this is the best place. It meets your agenda with going to “Americas team.” He has similar skill sets as Prescott, neither can throw. Plus will show the world he isn’t worthy of being in the NFL if he ever sees the field.

Some of those teams you mentioned don’t have the money to sign Kaepernick, especially NE!
If I remember correctly didn’t NE have to rework Chung’s contract to sign their first pick draft pick!
