Jets safety Jamal Adams has made it clear the entire offseason he is frustrated at the team’s lack of urgency at getting him a long-term deal. Now comes news that Adams has requested a trade.

The Jets have not given Adams’ agent permission to speak with other teams, Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reports. But Watkins, who formerly covered the Jets, added that Adams has informed the team that he would accept a trade to a handful of teams without requesting a contract extension, at least not right away.

Adam Schefter of ESPN lists those teams as the Cowboys, Ravens, Texans, Chiefs, Eagles, 49ers and Seahawks.

The Cowboys have shown the most interest in a trade for Adams, having talked to the Jets at the trade deadline last season. The Cowboys, though, found the Jets’ asking price too rich.

Dallas still is working on a long-term deal with Dak Prescott, with a July 15 deadline approaching, and would need to get Prescott taken care of first. Prescott’s franchise tag is costing the Cowboys $31.4 million for 2020 absent an agreement.

  1. Adams has the best type of leverage – talent. And now he is using that leverage to find the right circumstances in which to enjoy the rest of his career. This is a good thing.

  2. I doubt any team, including the Seahawks, won’t get sucked into trading future or highly talented players to get him without an extensive extension getting all worked out.

  3. dude is never going to be happy. Of course he wants traded to a top contender.

Make him play out his contract. He is getting paid very well with his signing bonus.

Then hit him with the 5th year option.

  4. Adam’s has supreme talent and knows this the time to renegotiate. Bad teams dont redo their rookie deals 3 years in while SMART teams do… Eagles.

  5. Who’s Jamal Adams? Has he helped any team win a superbowl? Stay in your lane bro, you are already overpaid.

  6. Buyer beware, all this guy has done in his career is complain! Once the novelty of new surroundings wears off he will revert back to the malcontent that he is! He hasn’t been paid yet and he is a pain, you think once you pay him he will get better? Teams will put up with it as long as the talent is there, once it starts declining he is gone.

  7. Jamal Adams is not Ronnie Lott, Steve Atwater, Ed Reed, or John Lynch. They were game changers. I will never forget the hit Steve Atwater put on Christian Okoye and the whole stadium sound changed to “AAAAAAAHHHHHH”. Game changer.

Someone needs to ask Jamal Adams when was the last time he heard that an NFL team was a safety away from winning a Super Bowl.

  8. He is assuming that there will be a football season in 2020. It is not certain that there will be one according to Dr. Fauci.

  9. Ravens secondary is loaded. They do not need this guy. What the Ravens need is an edge rusher
