The Patriots will allow season ticket holders with risk factors for COVID-19 to skip the 2020 season without losing their seats for 2021 and beyond.

In an email to season ticket holders, the Patriots said that if they have COVID-19 risks because of age or other health conditions, they will be permitted to give up their tickets this year but buy them again next year. Usually, season ticket holders who don’t renew lose their seats and move to the bottom of the waiting list if they want to buy season tickets again.

“By completing this agreement now, your seat location will be protected for the 2021 season,” the Patriots said in an email to season ticket holders, according to the Associated Press.

Although other teams have said they will work with season ticket holders who are affected by COVID-19, the Patriots are the first team to make such a blanket offer to all their season ticket holders.

Despite some doubts that it’s feasible, the NFL is still planning to play its schedule on time, in all 32 teams’ home stadiums.

“We remain optimistic for the return of football and we are preparing to play each home game as scheduled in front of our Season Ticket Members this fall,” the Patriots’ email said. “We will do so in full compliance with the NFL and all government regulations and will rely on the advice of medical and public health professionals to maintain the safety of our fans, players, and personnel.”

  1. ….once again, another great donor state setting the smart, socially responsible thing. I am so proud.

  2. In related news, the NY Jets organization said it’s fans can skip the next five years

  3. Or, Are season ticket renewals low because of the departure of TB12 and this is a face saving measure ?
Try not to hurt yourself jumping off the bandwagon.

  4. You are able to transmit the virus for like 5-10 days Max why would they do this?

  5. ” Are season ticket renewals low because of the departure of TB12 and this is a face saving measure ?”

Lol the Pats have one of the largest waiting lists in the league and one of the highest renewal rates, with or without Brady

Keep up the whining bout the mean ol’ Pats though, gives us laughs

  6. It’s a very fan friendly offer. Congrats Pat’s organization. Rest of the league should follow.

Lol. It’s not a bandwagon if it lasts 20 years. To put it into context, if someone jumped on the bandwagon when they were 25 years old, they are now 45 and probably have teenage kids that have been Patriots fans since they were born. Those are just called fans.

WE HAVE BEEN SOLD OUT SINCE 1994!! i was born in 87, and I grew up 30 minutes from Foxborough. We barely had Patriots telecasts when i was a young kid. Hell, it was mostly low lights or Gil santos on the radio with Gino Cappelletti.

  11. This is just a brilliant business move. Collect the interest or invest it and see if they can even go to games next year. Very smart move.

  12. I didn’t see the Rooney family doing this, or Jerry doing this, or Irsay….Hmmmm

Definitely jealous, and yes he may be mad as well. lmao

Their lives have been disrupted to the point they can’t enjoy life due to the Pats’ dominance. Freud could have only seen these people exclusively and made an entire career out of it.

  14. Nothing says “There will be no 2020 season” more than an NFL team allowing season ticket holders to skip a season…..a season that may not happen.

Smart move by the Pats. If they didn’t do this, many season ticket holders would have gotten angry about missed/cancelled games. Their ticket sales for the following year would have crashed. This move ensures that they will keep most of their season ticket holders.

  15. “Typically, fans who cancel their season tickets lose the chance to buy those seats in future years and are replaced by someone on a waiting list, if there is one. The Patriots, who have won six Super Bowls since 2001, have a wait list with tens of thousands of names, many of whom have waited a decade or more for the chance to buy tickets.”

  16. The other 29 teams will have quite the legal battle on their hands if this offer is not extended to their season ticket holders.
The league, which is (sadly, because our politicians are in their pocket) protected from competition – anyone find it “wrong” that you can start a commercial airline with people’s lives in your hands if you have the capital and meet the regulatory requirement but can’t start an NFL franchise (if you want true social justice, then stop this unjust protectionism that may have made sense in 1930, but not in 2020!) – on one hand, will they want to argue that they are unique independent businesses on the other hand?
    Good luck with that!
Any attorney with some smarts and looking to make a name for themselves could have quite the class-action suit should not all 32 teams offer the same.
Avg ticket price of $100 (easily), 30 teams, average of 40,000 season ticket holders, 10 home games per team….up over a billion.

  17. Patriots haters are anxious. Publicly they sing “Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead” but they have nightmares that the Patriots will win the division (or come close) and escape cap hell in 2021, and dominate again.

While other teams see player like Jamal Adams demand a trade, Dak Prescott demand a huge salary, the culture in Miami sap an ability to concentrate on football, the Patriots lose Brady and Gronk and wish them well. What does Belichick know that they don’t know?

Buffalo has an excellent head coach, a good team and a strong defense. It’s a community where it’s easy to concentrate on football but they need to sweep the Patriots, not just play them tight. That’s pressure.

It’s a tough year for the haters because they can’t count on father time if the Patriots win the division this year. They’re could be staring at another lost decade.

Could the Patriots own the 2020s?

  18. Let’s see how long the season ticket waiting list is a few years from now when the Patriots join the ranks of the other teams……and are just average.

All successful NFL Franchises sell out stadiums when they are successful. I’m curious if the Pats will sell out after a few mediocre years.

  19. I got an email a month and a half agofrom the Bills organization saying season ticket holders can either get game by game credit back for each game not played, or roll it into 2021 season tickets? Why is this news lol

  20. Some of the best most objective compassionate posts I’ve read in quite some time Bravo PFT posters

  21. You have to hand it to Kraft, he’s a hands on owner. Always willing to lend a hand. He handles issues handily and never let’s things get out of hand. He has his hands full, but it’s not as if his hands are tied. Hands down, fans are in good hands.
