The NFLPA has advised players to stop working out together to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The reason?

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that “around 10 NFL teams have reported positive coronavirus tests for at least one of their players.”

Reports have indicated the Cowboys, Texans, Rams, Broncos, 49ers and Buccaneers have had a player or multiple players test positive. Ezekiel Elliott, Von Miller, Kareem Jackson and Brian Allen are players who are known to have contracted the coronavirus.

Saints coach Sean Payton has recovered from COVID-19.

According to Fowler, the NFL and NFLPA share a database that updates each time a team reports a positive test, and there has been a uptick of positive cases over the past two weeks.

That uptick shows what can — and likely will — happen during the season. The NFL and its teams have to figure out how to mitigate the virus, because the virus is making it clear it’s not going away quietly.

  1. It is wishful thinking that the virus threat is over and that no face mask is needed.

  2. Just. Cancel. The. Season. It’s simply not gonna work. I want football to return. But we need to be honest with ourselves here. Without a vaccine there won’t be football. And even if we get a vaccine, it will take a year to get everyone vaccinated

  3. There is no cure, so people will naturally get the virus. So if you are waiting for a “vaccine” (which we do not even have for the common flu!) , then you might as well board up the stadiums, because it will never be “safe”. And, I find it odd that ALL deaths are being linked to the Covid-19 and no longer to the Flu or anything else. So the fact that their is no vaccine, and the common flu aspect, of coarse the infection rate and deaths are naturally going to continue to rise.

  4. Cancel the season because of a virus that has an extremely low fatality rate and has not flooded our healthcare system as predicted outside of a handful of extremely densely populated cities. In the current climate where up is down and left is right this actually makes perfect sense.

  5. They could allow the teams to carry an extra 10 players to the team for this year. Bill
