The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced that this year’s Hall of Fame Game and enshrinement ceremony have been postponed, with the Class of 2020 now being enshrined alongside the class of 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led the Hall of Fame to cancel this year’s event, and so the 2021 ceremony will be an enormous occasion featuring this year’s larger-than-normal class to celebrate the league’s 100th season enshrined on one day, and a new Hall of Fame class that will be chosen in February of 2021 enshrined the next day.

“The health and safety of our Hall of Famers, fans and volunteers who make Enshrinement Week so special remains our top priority,” Hall of Fame President David Baker said. “The Hall will honor the Centennial Class of 2020 next August, along with what promises to be an equally spectacular Class of 2021, as part of a multi-day celebration of football with an atmosphere that will deliver for fans ‘Twice the Fun in ’21.’”

The Steelers and Cowboys will play in the Hall of Fame Game on August 5, 2021. The two teams had been scheduled to play in this year’s Hall of Fame Game, which already sold out. Ticket holders can either use their tickets for next year’s game or request a refund.

  1. There will be 70 or 80 people being inducted by then, the speeches should only last a week or two

yes that’s correct and only a handful will be worthy of induction, the rest will be good to very good players that the NFL and all of the other major sports are inducting in their Halls of Fames recently which really makes me shake my head in frustration.

I remember before that if you were inducted in any Hall of Fame in any sport that meant you were elite for a long period of time, now it’s getting laughable with some of the people getting in the Halls of Fame.

The heads of the NFL Hall are laughing and rubbing their hands in glee with the anticipation of all the money they will be making next year with all those inductees.

  3. HOF induction shouldn’t be an every year thing if it doesn’t need to be.

If you feel you have inductees worthy of the induction then host it, even if it’s only for 2 guys otherwise just wait. It’ll add more prestige to the honor and stop this expressway of inductees flying in at an outrageous rate.

For me the HOF has lost bit of its shine the past 15 years or so.

  4. Hope Faneca finally makes it.

That would add to Troy and Shell and with the Steelers playing in the game, more spice.

Passed the HOF on 1-77 yesterday…only a jog up the turnpike for us Yinzers.
