Which quarterback will be the next to win his first ring?

Of the top 20 quarterbacks in the Chris Simms top 40 countdown, only six have won Super Bowl rings — Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady.

So which quarterback will be the next to win his first ring?

Simms and I looked at the issue during Thursday’s PFT Live, drafting three each. Some are obvious, some aren’t. One has never started an NFL game.

Check out our list and put your own ideas below. And be sure to tune in for Friday’s PFT Live, the last before our three-week hiatus.

  1. Based on their teams’ performances last year, Jackson or Garoppolo. Wins are not a QB stat. Neither are rings.

  2. pro-bowl left tackle inked now for 5 years….a 1st round rookie RT and a 2nd round rookie LG, both of whom played great last year, and obviously will only get better….a very good C in Nick Martin and some reasonably good talent at the most easily fillable position on the oline at RG……shhhhh….it’s easy to be a group-thinking sheep and bash Bill O’Brien….but he’s building what will soon be one of the best olines in football…nevermind that he’s recently built and now got perhaps the best 1-4 TE depth in the league…..

if DeShaun Watson can mature mentally…..playing air guitar on the sidelines in the 1st quarter of the playoff game against the Chiefs then pouting on the bench in the 4th quarter….whereas Mahomes acted like a true pro from start to finish……if Watson can grow up and be a big boy…..it’s clearly Watson. Frankly it’s elementary.

  3. Haskins. Easily. Great quarterback. Huge arm. Incredible Defense. Stellar coach. If there is a season, that ring will be coming this year.

  4. Easy…Dwyane Haskins. He’s gonna light em up this year. Danny boy gonna rename the team “The Washington Haskins” book it!

  5. Carson Wentz has a ring. His performance in 2017 got them a 1st round bye and he earned his ring.

Jarrett Stidham? yes its possible – all he has do do is play better than the average QB and keep turnovers to a minimum and coupled with that defense they will be back in the playoffs. Tommy boy is gone but I would never write Belichik off. He won exactly that way with a version 2001 Brady. yeah it could happen with a 2020 Stidham. Tell you what I think theres a 50% chance there in the playoffs even with that beast of a schedule.

and when Belichick does it again the other 31 teams will collectively soil themselves and thats going to be spectacular

  8. One of my favorite things right now is that Pats fans think they can plug in a mid-round QB who has to fill the biggest shoes in history and threw a pick 6 in his 1st 4 passes, and not miss a beat.

They won’t come near the AFCE title for years.

To answer the article’s question: Josh Allen, of course.

  9. Everybody is going with young guys. How about Phillip Rivers? Team is pretty loaded, if he can cut down on TO’s behind that great Oline they have a chance.

Brady nearly did exactly the same thing in his debut against the Lions. Only Brady’s was dropped and Stidham’s wasn’t. Meaningless.

Does the first game a guy plays define his career? Because Josh Allen was 6-15 with 3 sacks in his first game.

  12. I have no idea, but it’s a fun little exercise. Forced to pick, I’d go with Kyler Murray

For the 7 downvoters, watch Brady’s debut again. Eerily similar to Stidham’s against the Jets – both in garbage time – and yes the Lions defender was taking it back to the house if he didn’t drop the INT. Didn’t mean much with respect to Brady’s career. Point is – a tiny sample size – especially in garbage time – doesn’t really mean a whole lot.

  14. Kyler Murray or Lamar Jackson will be the next young QB to win a Super-Bowl in the NFL.
