Various persons in and around the NFL have tested positive for coronavirus. Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill becomes the first to be hospitalized with COVID-19.

The Cardinals announced that Bidwill has the virus, and that he is expected to be released from the hospital this weekend.

Per the team’s website, Bidwill had been “traveling and spending time on the East Coast for several weeks.” The team believed he contracted the virus there. Arizona currently is one of the nation’s hotbeds of COVID-19.

Bidwill was tested after he developed symptoms. Doctors recommended that he be hospitalized. He has been hospitalized, according to the team, just a couple of days.

We extend our best wishes to Bidwill for a full and complete recovery.

  1. Hope he recovers quickly.
When will the naysayers – anti-maskers whatever they call themselves realize this is extremely serious.
Wear a mask when you are amongst other people. It’s not that hard. Save someone else’s life. And yours.
    Please.

  2. Ummmm…. being hospitalized is always serious. What a dumb comment.
    —————–
The bar for admittance is even higher with hospitals filling up. Plus Bidwell clearly could afford at-home treatment if his condition wasn’t “serious.”

  3. Anything that puts you in the hospital over night is serious enough. It’s dumb logic like this that keeps this virus rolling and will eventually end our football season.

Can you afford to be in a hospital for 48hrs?

  4. Ever now & then the recovery period is a lark & the patient has relapses with disastrous results. Hopefully that will not be the case here & the medical folks know more about the virus to limit these occurrences as much as possible.

  5. I have no attachment to the Cardinals, but I hope he pulls through with no long term effects. I believe his dad recently passed.

Say what you will about the Cardinals, but they are the oldest NFL franchise. Hope they find success one of these days. From a Packers fan.

  6. It amazes me that rational intelligent people could describe ANY illness that can put you into the hospital as “no big deal” because some political leaders have somehow convinced their followers that acknowledging the potential of an illness that has killed more Americans than every war but WW2 is really just a means of “controlling” them. While its absolutely Its CLEAR that their “message” is the most effective way to get their followers to maximize their chances to be hospitalized and possibly die.

While they’re at it they should instruct their followers to further express their “freedom” by smoking – and to drive with no seatbelts while drinking! Now thats really expressing your freedom!

  7. Just not a good idea to be traveling right now, especially in the air. Planes are like test tubes full of germs.

  8. How hard is it to wear a mask?. It’s not about politics or being a tough guy it’s a courtesy to me and other older folks. You don’t have to agree with the science to show me courtesy.

  9. Hope he gets well. But I do wonder why no hate, his family moved the Cards from STL. Where are all the STL haters, you blame the Rams/Stan for loosing your team what about the Bidwells?

  10. Thoughts and prayers to the Bidwill Family and, more fundamentally to all families impacted by this pernicious disease. As a society we also tip our hats in gratitude to the health care workers who risk their lives to treat the sick and dying Covid sufferers. In a time of a lot of screaming and ranting in Washington, you are the true heroes and the folks who make this country proud. Thanks.
