15 female employees of Washington NFL team say they were sexually harassed

The much-anticipated Washington Post exposé of the Washington NFL team has been published, and it details widespread sexual harassment within the organization.

Describing women who worked for the franchise, the Post reports, “they cried about the realization their dream job of working in the NFL came with what they characterized as relentless sexual harassment and verbal abuse that was ignored — and in some cases, condoned — by top team executives.”

In all, the report cites 15 different women who say they were sexually harassed while working for the team. Among the employees accused of sexual harassment is Larry Michael, the team’s radio announcer, who abruptly announced this week that he was leaving the team.

Also named in the article are two employees who were recently fired, director of pro personnel Alex Santos and assistant director of pro personnel Richard Mann II.

Team owner Daniel Snyder refused to be interviewed for the report. But he won’t be able to stay silent for long, as this will become the talk of the NFL — and is likely to lead to calls for Snyder to sell the team, whether he wants to or not.

  1. Despite thoughts on the Redskins name and logo changing, Dan Snyder really has no redeeming qualities and is a pathetic team owner.

  2. I saw a documentary some time back where the same thing happened with the Washington Sentinels.

  3. You might as well call them the Washington Amazons now, because Jeff Bezos is going to own that team before the end of the year.

  4. Was this hit piece initiated to get Snyder ousted from ownership before he made plans to change the name of the organization? I wouldn’t be surprised if this was in the works as a backup plan for if he never succumbed to the pressure of supposed racism, which they decided to pull the trigger on regardless, in order to ensure ownership that would change the name for the sake of the league.

  5. Does any of this implicate Snyder? If not, he can’t be compelled to sell the team.

If the NFL were to sell to Jeff Bezos, they should force him to sell the Washington Post. Teams should not own a major media outlet in a city they are located in.

  7. Snyder will pay a big fine and agree to play games in Europe for the next decade, next.

  8. This is a case of the trailer being better than the movie. What is being described here sounds like happy hour at PWC.

  9. The Skins should lose half their cap space for 5 years and be forced to move to Los Angeles.

  10. I think we all agree that this once proud franchise has been greatly compromised by Dan Snyder’s ownership style and ego. It is most needful for a deep cleansing to take place and for this team to usher in a new era with a new name, owner and hopefully a very bright future.

I agree. He wasn’t named and those who were have already been let go. He’ll have a lot of damage control to do, but the Skins’ have been in damage control mode since they beat the Bills in 91/92.

  12. If Bezons gets the team, he’ll call them the “Climate Pledgers”. Here come the Washington Climate Pledgers, now playing at Black Lives Matter Stadium at FedEx Field.

  13. Even as an Eagles fan i hope this is it for Snyder. I feel bad for redskins fans at this point. Snyder has to go.

  14. Would be a good time for Peyton Manning to become a owner. His good name could change a lot really fast.

  15. Snyder as owner is responsible for the image of his team at every level and this teams image is as brutal as it’s performance on the field

  16. He won’t have to sell if not involved and was unaware. Not every owner is as involved as the Dallas Owner. Snyder seems ot be very involved though, but I can see how he may not need to sell.

  17. Sell the team? C’mon now. Not a chance. He’s taken corrective measures, so that is all that will be expected. Show us anything that proves a track record that deserves selling the team.

  18. As a lifelong Skins fan, I hope Snyder is gone. He has represented the team and the NFL poorly. Not to mention that we have had how many playoff appearances in his 20 year reign?

  19. If they can force the Carolina Panthers owner to sell, then they can force Snyder to sell the team. Snyder has been a cancer and an awful owner since he bought the team.

  20. So often a business and it’s employees reflects the character of senior leadership and ownership. Is any of this Washington stuff even a surprise? The fact that it isnt provides all you need to know about this organizations ownership and management.

  21. Anyone else feel like, “All at once, things are all going bad for this franchise at the same time”?? I smell a conspiracy. Not sure what or who is behind it but something’s up

  22. “The Skins should lose half their cap space for 5 years and be forced to move to Los Angeles.”

Sounds a lot like the Rams except they willingly sacrificed half their cap space on bad contracts.

  23. Jerry Richardson was accused and I have not seen if Dan Snyder was so far. So if he is not then he is safe and will not be made to sell. I feel sorry for the Coach of the Washington team. He is going through the same thing all over again. Geeez

  24. Snyder is a horrible owner. Should of changed the name of the team a Long time ago, but I can’t stand Washington, so I hope he continues as an owner as it assures they will never be good again. In every business, it all starts at the top. He IS to blame.

  25. For those saying Snyder can’t be forced to sell…guess again. Snyder is involved in the sexual harassment charges and a slew of other charges like paying off refs. The other 30 owners (Packers don’t have an owner) can force Snyder to sell and they should. Owning an NFL team is a privilege not a right. The NFL is ran like the mob. If other owners want Snyder gone it will be swift and with little commotion. Feel free to ask Jerry Richardson what he thinks about this.

  26. Really…..and the YEARS of offseason drama continue yet AGAIN for this team! I miss the predictable years of the 80s and 90s when the team had NO distractions and just plain and simply whopped up on the rest of the league during the seasons.

  27. I hope this pathetic egomaniac remains the owner. Less competition for the rest of the teams in the league. This guy has burned that franchise down.

Agreed. Boston Globe is owned by an owner of the Red Sox and the result is a biased sports section in favor of the Sox, with added “special investigations” on the Patriots. It’s comical.
