Chase Young signs his rookie deal

The second overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft has signed his first NFL contract.

Chase Young posted a picture of his contract signing on social media on Thursday morning. It’s a four-year deal for the edge rusher and Washington has an option for a fifth season that would come with a fully guaranteed salary if it is exercised.

Young comes to Washington after spearheading the Ohio State defense over the last two seasons. He posted 26.5 sacks and 35.5 tackles for losses over those campaigns and had plenty of support as the best overall player in this year’s draft class.

He will join fellow first-round picks Jonathan Allen, Da’Ron Payne, Montez Sweat and Ryan Kerrigan up front on what Washington hopes will be a tough defense for opposing teams to play against for years to come.

Washington now has six of eight draft picks under contract. Fifth-rounder Khaleke Hudson and seventh-rounder Kamren Curl are the only ones left to sign.

  1. I keep wondering how Washington always seems to get these really good players,……and then I realize it’s because they stink…. for years now.

  2. Happy for Chase , but I’ll only be reading about him the paper … I love pro football but time to take a stand.

Yea, horrible coaching normally leads to horrible teams no matter how talented. Look what happend to the RAMS after they got rid of Jeff Fisher (same players). Well, HC Ron Rivera, and DC Jack Del Rio are far from horrible coaches. With these two looking over the defense Chase Young is going to be a freaking nightmare and he plays both left and right DE to get him away from the more talented LT if need be. Get your popcorn ready. We might not win more that 5-6 games but by week 3 no one will want to play against this defense.

Nahh man they are usually in the middle of the draft , I wish they were in top 5 for 3 years in a row like the GIANTS

  5. Outside of Washington, that headline strikes sheer terror in the hearts of NFL quarterbacks everywhere. Dak, Jones, and Wentz are openly rooting for the coronavirus to cancel the season. Chase is set to become the best defensive end ever and the defensive line is the most menacing since the Fearsome Foursome reign. As people contemplate a new name for Washington’s franchise let me offer one that fits perfectly — dynasty.

    *Defensive line.

Washington’s LB’s and Secondary are keeping anyone up at night whatsoever any time soon. The D-Line is stacked, but thats it. With no secondary, no offense and middle of the road (at best) linebackers, even 5-6 wins is a generous estimate.

  7. They are usually in the middle. Maybe upper middle but middle.

They got a little lucky with some guys falling right into their lap in the teens like Allen and Payne. I think one year there was a WR run (thanks Titans/Corey Davis) that pushed some good players down including Allen. And the next year a lot of teams picked for need and Payne fell to Washington.

And now this year when they were second they were lucky to have a “generational” player waiting for them (why there’s a “generational” guy every year, I don’t know, but that’s a different topic.)

  8. It takes more than just a dline to go even 8-8, five good players at One position doesn’t make anyone scared of you. Yep good players as none of them are great nor elite. Just facts not even hating you have to spread the talent around to win nonetheless get into postseason.

  9. Congratulations Young, you’re the new member of the team with the worst team name in the NFL. And I thought Titans sucked, whoops

  10. Anyone see his face? Didn’t look too thrilled to be signing his 1st pro contract.

  11. They are good for 8 or 9 wins depending who injuries as usual. Hopefully, the injuries will drop with the new coaching/training staff in place. If QB Smith makes it back (doubtful, I know), then they will more than competitive in the NFL East.
