Cam Newton doesn’t want to dwell on postgame scrum with Dolphins

Patriots quarterback Cam Newton got into it with a couple of members of the Dolphins on his way off the field after piloting New England to a 21-11 home win.

Newton and Dolphins linebackers Elandon Roberts and Kyle Van Noy were going back and forth as other Patriots players tried to help the quarterback off the field without further incident.

After the game, Newton said that it was a “competitive game” and that the Dolphins players were trying to grab his chain, which “kind of got under my skin” as the game came to an end. Newton also said he wanted to focus on other things.

“I don’t want to be selfish to kinda focus and dwell on that,” Newton said.

Newton would probably prefer to dwell on his 75 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns and 16 completions on 19 attempts in his first game as a member of the team. He’ll try to do it again in Seattle in Week Two.

  1. Leave the chain in the locker room dude, The thing was hanging outside your jersey the whole game and you’re Just asking for someone to rip it off.

    The diva was quite upset.

Actually he has been pretty low key Compared to his past life. The chain thing was minor and anyone would get mad at that. (But gee whiz, dont wear the chains then guys, its not just cam. I dont get it) but he played a good tough and unselfish game today. I also liked 1) the idea of having the Gronk Spike stay with the team To be a Pats tradition and 2) the way Cam gave it to Andrews to do on the second one. It was a cool way to acknowledge that Andrews scored that TD, Cam simply carried the ball.

  3. Note to Cam Cheating – the QB positions throws the ball – running backs run the ball. Decide what you are going to play and wear the appropriate number. Disgusting fraud. You have been exposed. You always were a dishonest person – now you are a dishonest player.

  4. Of course he does not has he shows the no control of way to many players. You win a game and show the same Newton

  5. Cam Newton running the ball is just a time bomb waiting to go off. It’s only a matter of time a running Scam will end up hurt.

  6. Miami is terrible.

Fitzgerald will get all the blame… but… the TEAM is TERRIBLE.

The receiving corps should be spelled “corpse”.

Yes. If you wear a necklace you are asking to be assaulted. Its about personal responsibility. Not for the assaulter though, hes good. The guy was a wearing a chain, what was he gonna do? Not assault him?

  8. Two former Patriots talking smack and who the Dolphins completely overpaid for started it. Newton takes knee and Van Noy walks over and bumps him & clearly says something. Then Roberts goes for the chain pull in ensuing “scrum”.

  9. Just leave the chain in your locker. Problem solved.

so it was the chain that caused Van Noy to walk over start jawing and bump Newton….got it

  10. So many ex-Pats are going to watch Cam being Cam as a Patriot, getting praised week in, week out by BB, and get really, REALLY angry that they thought that they had to be a different person under BB. They are going to take it out on Cam all year long.
