Report: Trent Brown avoided serious calf injury

Word on Monday was that linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski did not tear his pectoral muscle in Sunday’s win over the Panthers and the team has reportedly gotten more good news about another player who had to leave that game.

Right tackle Trent Brown hurt his calf three snaps into the game and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest a short time laters. Quick decisions like that often signal severe injuries, but it doesn’t look like that’s the case this time.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Brown is not believed to be dealing with a serious injury that would require him to miss an extended period of time. It may not cause him to miss any more time, although practice reports in the coming days will provide more clarity on that front. With the Raiders hosting the Saints on Monday, the first report will come on Thursday.

Sam Young took over for Brown, but had to leave after picking up a groin injury. Denzelle Good closed out the game at right tackle.

  1. That’s great news. If they can come out of that cross country trip with a win and Kwaitkowski, Ruggs and Brown all healthy and ready to go, then they dodged a major bullet. With Brees all of a sudden looking his age and Michael Thomas dealing with a high ankle sprain, the Raiders have a shot to steal one here.

  2. He practiced maybe 3 times all camp. He dodged a bullet but saying he can go in and play right away is wishful thinking.

  3. he needs to get in game shape, our backups could start for a lot of teams –Carrs jersey was super clean all day so Brown wants to play Chicken with Chucky guess who will win–hopefully he shapes up before he gets shipped out!

  4. The Raiders’ offensive line looked as good as any O-Line I’ve seen in a long time. They didn’t miss Brown at all. Gruden has brought in some really good players, and Tom Cable has molded them into a powerhouse unit.

  5. I alluded to it in a previous post, but maybe Trent’s just too heavy?! His lower body ailments just seem to never end now. I think if he dropped 30 pounds and got down to say Lincoln Kennedy’s old weight he could still dominate and be on the field more! 🙏🏻
