Josh Allen joins elite company through two weeks of the season

Although Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson deservedly has received considerably MVP buzz through two weeks, another quarterback has done something Wilson never has.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen has become only the fourth quarterback in league history with 700 or more passing yards, six or more touchdown passes, and zero interceptions in his team’s first two games of the season.

The other three quarterbacks to accomplish the feat have done it this decade. Patrick Mahomes did it in 2019, Tom Brady did it in 2015, and Peyton Manning did it in 2013.

For the year, Allen has completed 57 of 81 passes for 729 yards, six touchdowns, and no picks. His passer rating stands at 122.9.

He also has 75 rushing yards on 18 carries, with a touchdown.

If Allen keeps it up, he’ll force his way into the MVP conversation, especially if Wilson slips at all.

  1. The media’s “perception” and unwillingness to seriously include him is the only reason he’s not at the front of MVP talk. The Bills have won because of Allen’s play. His defense has been hurting bad and he’s carrying the load.

  2. If Wilson had the luxury of opening his year against the Jets and Dolphins respectively he would have double Allen’s numbers.

  3. How dare you throw praise Josh Allen’s way ! Don’t you understand Buffalo doesn’t deserve nice things ? #BillsMafia

The fact that that is still an excuse, 7 years later, is crazy

  6. Yes Josh Allen and Tribusky (won’t even learn to spell his name for the joke) are the best QBs in the league. Going to take their teams far.

See how that looks in 4 weeks.

  7. It’s fun to watch the talented young QBs grow and mature into dominant pro’s. Allen was born to be a Bills QB.

  8. Brett Favre? If you mean the one who won three MVP awards and a SB title, then yes, please. If you mean the one who holds the all-time NFL records in fumbles and interceptions thrown, oh please, god, no

  9. If Allen keeps it up, he’ll force his way into the MVP conversation, especially if Wilson slips at all.

OMG Florio, YOU’RE DREAMING IN FANTASYLAND! The ONLY chance Allen has of keeping it up is to play the Dolphins and Jets 8X each, BUT this week they have the Rams then @ Raiders, @ Titans and then the Chiefs so watch those numbers sink faster than the Titanic for the next 4 weeks! Then @ Jets, Pats Seahawks, @ Cards into the bye. Looking at their schedule I think they’re going to be hard pressed to win 6 games, 7 being the extreme limit this season, they have a very, very tough schedule.

    Double?

Everyone hates on Allen… why? The kid has a ton of potential. The football know it all’s claimed he would never be able to fix his accuracy, but he has gotten better and better 52% to 59% to 70% so far in 2020. They claimed he wouldn’t make in in this league and he’s doing a pretty good job… 12-6 since 2019. Claimed he was just a running QB… he debunked that. Why can’t people be happy for him? He without a doubt makes this league much more fun to watch.

That’s because they’re limiting him to 25yd or less throws which is smart on the OC’s part, but these are the same dink and dunk passes you Bills fans made fun of Brady for throwing and now you have a dink and dunk QB and you think he’s all that and a bag of chips! Funny how when the shoe’s on the other foot you’re happy with the dink and dunk throws but for 20yrs ya’all made fun of your nemisis Pats QB for making the same throws, the difference was Brady could hit the 50yd passes when he needed to, Allen has a <8% completion rate for passes over 25yds, that's why we make fun of him, sure he can throw it 70yds but he can't hit the broad side of a barn!

BTW it was against the Jets and Dolphins and they had their hands full with the Fins, you only get to play them twice each, it's the other 12 games that's going to show who he really is and that all starts this week with the Rams!

  12. If Allen played in Dallas or NY he’d have 2 Player-of-the-week awards and be on the Pro Bowl ballot already.

  13. So, now the OC is limiting Josh Allen’s throws to under 25 yards or so!?! Isaiah McKenzie begs to differ, my friend. Look up the yards per catch average for the Bills receivers…Facts are fun.

    Not watching the games, eh?

I'm looking forward to years of critics telling us how bad Allen is as he continues to rack up yards, completions, TD's and wins.

It's funny how pundits get bound to their original prognostications. So many said Allen wouldn't be good – they can't admit they were wrong, even when he's putting up 400 yards & 4 TD's.

  15. Why can’t a quarterback dink and dunk? As long as you move the chains, who cares if it’s 5 yards at a time or 20 yards.
