Bears add QB Tyler Bray to active roster

Nick Foles replacing Mitchell Trubisky as the starter is not the only quarterback change on the Bears’ roster.

The Bears have also called up quarterback Tyler Bray to serve on the active roster for tomorrow’s game against the Colts.

It is unclear why the Bears added Bray to the roster. Usually a third quarterback is only called up the day before a game if one of the quarterbacks ahead of him on the depth chart might be unavailable, but there has been no indication that Foles won’t be available to start, or that Trubisky won’t be available to back him up.

The 28-year-old Bray has thrown only one pass in his NFL career, but he has a wealth of experience in Bears head coach Matt Nagy’s offense, having spent the last two years in Chicago and also spent time in Kansas City when Nagy was the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator.

  1. Bray has been the Bears #3 for three years now. Which is an EMBARRASMENT for their QB evaluation skills.

But we are talking about the same GM (Ryan Pace) who took a kid who started 13 college games over Mahomes and Watson.

  2. active roster”

Would you like to explain that? A number 3 is usually a long term project or steady hand that knows the system. I’m not saying the bears can evaluate qbs but you cant use that as proof they cant.

Not for the teams that know what they’re doing at QB. Bray sucks and always will. And the fact that the Bears haven’t bothered to find competition for him in 3 YEARS speaks VOLUMES about Ryan Pace.

The teams who routinely have good QB rooms are ALWAYS looking for the next #2 and #3.

  4. Lots of teams don’t have QBs, I love the consistent Bears QB comparison. No one cares if Pace missed, it happens. Why did the Raiders blow through four first round picks since the Bears got Mack and they don’t have a QB? Why do the Lions have an above average QB and they have gone 0-3 in the playoffs since he got their 11 years ago…..

Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy are 23-13, the Bears are doing fine.

  6. Other teams have productive and positive relationships with their quarterbacks. Don’t they understand that the coach/quarteback relationship is arguably the most important of all? Coaches MUST support their quarterbacks! Backups are supposed to be for injured QBs. Trubisky should go someplace where the coach cares about his development.

  7. Trubisky stinks up against the Falcons and gets replaced. Foles stinks up the field against the Colts and is still in the game What gives?
