Patriots’ Saturday COVID-19 tests produce no new positives

The Patriots may have dodged a bullet after quarterback Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19.

Every Patriots player was tested today after Newton’s test from Friday came back positive, and every player tested negative, according to multiple reports.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the Patriots are out of the woods: It can take up to several days for an infected person to test positive, so it’s still possible that a teammate did contract the virus from Newton and just hasn’t tested positive yet.

Still, zero positive tests is good news. The Patriots may still be able to fly to Kansas City on Sunday and play against the Chiefs as soon as Monday.

  1. Well, then how did they “dodge a bullet”? We don’t know yet. Only a proper 14 day quarantine really proves that statement.

Stop sensationalizing a very serious matter, please. Families are losing loved ones, not just older folks either..young people, too, and 25% of a roster is at heightened risk due to weight.

  2. The NFLPA is 100% responsible for this! In July, the league wanted to put all the players into hotels. The NFL version of the bubble. The players union rejected this! Obviously, this was a stupid move by the union. It could still be implemented now With another round of opt outs available to players. Looking to blame someone? blame the players union!

  3. And if no one test again tomorrow(Sunday) they can fly to KC.
If no one test positive Monday morning then they can play, sorry Newton ould just need to sit out and stay involved virtually until cleared.

    Look, it’a both:

    1. The NFl can’t sign off on a fresh cba with all this supposed leverage and then act like they have no power, because they do, which is what the opt outs were about here. Within that, they could have set the bubble rules. They didn’t.

    2. The union balked at the bubble and even fulll facemasks/shields as some odd victim.

Both sides have shown wealthy 1st world problem leadership failures.

That’s what the pandemic does…exposes all of our worst traits in society. The NFL is failing the tests.

  5. The blame squarely belongs to Commissioner Goodell. (I don’t actually believe this. I just like blaming Roger for anything negative in the NFL.)

  6. One question hasn’t been asked, when was Newton infected, before or after the Raiders game last Sunday? Though no Raider players have tested positive since that game, you have to keep that in mind too. This has the potential to spiral out of control fast.

  7. The NFL is doing a pretty good job. A couple guys might be sneaking around when nobody is watching, but that could end up shutting down the season. If Cam is the only Patriot testing positive, where has he been?

  8. Good. So put them on a plane and get them out to Arrowhead for the 42-21 beat-down that they richly deserve.

  9. you make titans and Steelers change schedule and bye but NE shows positive and they can play

KC Monday, how many days Cam is watched when real word is 14 days. What kind of sham is the NFL
