Patriots will take two planes to Kansas City (if the trip happens)

Assuming that all point-of-care and off-site PCR tests continue to be negative for the Patriots (and for the Chiefs, who also have a quarterback who recently tested positive but no one seems to care), the Patriots will fly to and from Missouri tomorrow for a Monday night game against the defending Super Bowl champions.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Patriots will travel in two planes. One will carry roughly 20 persons who have had close contact with Newton. The other will have the rest of the traveling party.

The Patriots used two planes last year during an outbreak of the flu. The fact that the team’s ownership also owns both planes makes that a lot easier. (In this case, however, the Patriots won’t be using their own planes, due to issues relating to operating certifications completely unrelated to the safe operation of the aircrafts.)

Separating the team based on those who did and didn’t have close contact with Cam underscores the reality that the incubation period could still be accounting one or more of the negative tests, and that one or more people who had close contact with Cam may still test positive, eventually.

  1. “Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Patriots will travel in two planes. One will carry roughly 20 persons who have had close contact with Newton. The other will have the rest of the traveling party.” – The fact that 20 people have been identified as being in close contact with Newton, combined with the incubation period for a test to possibly detect the virus suggests that they should most likely not fly/play tomorrow.

  2. lol maybe that 2nd plane that is gonna be filled with Cam-infectees oughta stay in Boston . . .this is only a suggestion.

  3. I get that Goodell and Trump agree on how to ignore the virus and make illogical and potentially catastrophic decisions regarding people’s health as a result… but this game simply should not happen. Doesn’t matter who is playing. Both teams have an infected player and both teams are more than likely to have more players test positive. Cancel the game. Why risk a further outbreak and players’ health?
Maybe because it’s clear the NFL has no contingency plan? And having to reschedule another game a couple of weeks down the road is virtually impossible?
    Ugh.

Some people fail to understand that most information would not become public without anonymous sources. Those same people also fail to realize that there are many legitimate reasons for sources to remain anonymous.

The “put your name on it” people are morons. If they ever had relevant information about a crime or something negative at their workplace you can bet that they would be to cowardly to come forward without anonymity.

  5. You “experts” need to go do some research on what a “pandemic” is. Trust me, there would be no air travel, or indoor/outdoor dining etc if this was a true pandemic. I mean, dont you ask yourselves why you don’t need a mask to sit at a table at a restaurant? You only need it when you walk to the bathroom or get up to leave. I guess the virus only bothers people who are walking around.

You might want to refrain from calling ANYONE a moron after posting a comment like that. Not surprising, you are probably too young to realize when there was something called JOURNALISM (you know, when you had two have at least 2 sources) instead of just gleaning info from memes and tweets.

  7. Ridiculous this game is even being played right now. Did the NFL learn nothing from all the delayed positive results the Titans had?

  8. “The end of the pandemic is in sight.” Trumpy promised right before he got the COVID so it must be true.

  9. Reminder: No one is forcing them to play football and no one is forcing you to leave your house until there is a COVID vaccine. And no one is forcing you to watch it. You can protest them playing but not watching it.

So you believe that the information for this article, that the Patriots are using two airplanes, comes from a meme or a tweet? If so, you’re probably the type of person I was referencing.

If Woodward and Bernstein had waited for two sources the Watergate scandal would never have been exposed.

  11. After the flight, do the Chiefs have extra locker rooms to isolate people who have been in close contact with Cam or the Chiefs practice squad candidate? Of course not, and then once said “close in contact players” are on the field, good luck to each and every person – and their families.
