Dalvin Cook leaves for locker room with groin injury

USA TODAY Sports

Dalvin Cook is having the best three-game rushing stretch of his four-year career. He had 65 yards in a little over a half Sunday, giving him 376 rushing yards over the past 2 1/2 games.

Cook also has five catches for 24 yards against the Seahawks.

But the Vikings star running back walked up the tunnel with the team’s medical personnel after a 5-yard loss on a reception early in the third quarter. Before cornerback Ryan Neal even pushed Cook out of bounds, Cook grabbed at his left groin in obvious pain.

He is questionable to return with the groin injury, the team announced.

Alexander Mattison replaced Cook.

Cook entered the game leading the league with 424 yards and six rushing touchdowns on 75 carries. His 65 yards Sunday came on 17 carries and included a touchdown.

The Seahawks finally got on the scoreboard in the third quarter on a 19-yard reception by Will Dissly from Russell Wilson. It has cut the Vikings’ lead to 13-7.

  1. Wish him the best of luck on another team, I’m not paying full price for 2/3 of the games

  2. Minnesota just lost the game. What a bunch of losers. Zimmer should kicked the FG. Still, they just couldn’t get a couple of inches to get the first down and win the game. The media will be going after Zimmer.

  3. Didn’t watch the game, but followed it some online. Why would Zimmer go for it on 4tH down when a chip shot field goal was right there to.put the Vikings up by 8? Zimmer is a horrible decision maker. The Vikings season is basically on the line and Zimmer takes a gamble instead of ending up with a tie in regulation as the worse case scenario? Wow. LOL.

  4. You can debate all day long if the Vikings should have kicked a FG or gone for it at the two-minute warning. But if you do decide to go for it, why in the world would you run behind your worst offensive lineman (Dru Samia) who was manhandled all night long and had three holding penalties? Zimmer should join O’Brien and Quinn on the unemployment line.

  5. What gets lost in the conversation is too many teams chase the two pt conversion early in the game. They take the XP, they’re down 21-20 in the third. No big deal . Then, guess what. The fore mentioned missed 4th down become a chip shot. Game over! Oops, never mind. I forgot about Blair Walsh

Ummmmm about that…..I believe they signed him to an extension already.

  7. How many former head coaches on on the viking staff? The decision to not kick a FG was unforgivable.

  8. Mattison was have a good game until that 4th down play. He picked the wrong hole. Could have walked into the end zone. Instead he ran right into his own lineman who was being dominated.

  9. Shocking Cook goes out with another soft tissue injury. Now that he’s out with a groin, it will be nagging him for the rest of the year. He’ll probably compensate for it, then pull a hamstring.

Boy I’m glad we gave him a huge extension!

Any other game that is an incomplete pass. Hard to not believe this is WWE.
