Bruce Arians: You can’t play scared of Aaron Rodgers

The Buccaneers are trying to rebound from a loss to the Bears this week and that effort will be complicated by the guy playing quarterback for their next opponent.

Aaron Rodgers is off to a scorching start this season with 1,214 yards, a completion percentage above 70 percent, 13 touchdowns and no interceptions to help the Packers to a 4-0 start. On Tuesday, Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians shared his thoughts about the best defensive approach to take against Rodgers.

“You have to get after him. You can’t play scared,” Arians said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Arians also noted how good Rodgers is when forced to improvise, so there’s no perfect way for the Bucs to make sure that Rodgers doesn’t continue his hot streak come Sunday.

  1. That’s true of any NFL QB, isn’t it? Arians has a six SB Champ under center … You can’t play scared of Brady neither.

  2. Should be a fun game, 2 HOF qb’s and teams with expectations facing off. Plus Brady will have had 10 days to be mad about losing.

  3. Yeah sorry but Brady today isn’t the same guy that won those rings. Rodgers, on the other hand, looks pretty close to the same guy that’s been in GB all these years. Brady is the same sore loser that won’t shake hands with Nick Foles though, one of the nicest guys in the league

  4. Avoiding blitzing Aaron Rodgers isn’t “playing scared”…it’s playing smart.

Rodgers is the best in the league at exploiting blitzes. He almost always finds the open guy.

  5. I think they should be scared – the Tampa Bay secondary is the weak spot (and it is indeed weak) in that defense and AR is going to take advantage of that.

  6. Will be a good one. There are some good games this week, but this is for sure the one everyone is looking forward to. The FOX late game ratings are going to be through the roof.

I like the Packers chances, but when the schedule came out I did have this road game in Tampa as a possible L. We will see what happens.

  7. Who’s the goat? Brady, while Aaron is a joke choker.

Wow, that’s a good one. Gonna have to use that….anytime I want to sound like an imbecile.

  8. Both defenses are sub-par, though TB gets after the Passer better. GB (as we all say against SF) cannot stop the run, so advantage TB there too.

    Both Offenses are banged up.

Overall slight advantage to TB personnel wise

This might just come down to which QB has a better game.

  9. The Buccaneers have not beaten a good team yet. They get an opportunity with the Packers this week. Can’t wait to watch.

You’d have to beat yourself in the head with a hammer for a solid hour to get anywhere near that level of imbecility.
