Report: Dalvin Cook is expected to miss Sunday with adductor strain

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said on Monday that Dalvin Cook‘s MRI went “pretty well.” Whatever that means.

Chad Graff of TheAthletic.com reports Cook has an adductor strain that likely will keep him out Sunday against the Falcons. The Vikings have their off week the following week, in Week Seven, so that would give Cook two weeks of rehab before a reevaluation.

Cook’s 489 rushing yards leads the league, and he has seven rushing touchdowns on his 92 carries.

Alexander Mattison replaced Cook and rushed for 112 yards on 20 carries, but he didn’t pick up the needed yard on fourth-and-inches with two minutes remaining.

Mattison has played 18 games in his two seasons, but he has never started a game.

  1. Since the season is trashed anyway, kinda want Vikings to lose to stay in the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. But I think losing to Atlanta may get Zim fired, and don’t want that to happen.

  2. There was no way Cook would be playing this week with the bye coming up. I wonder if he’ll go on social media and complain about it like Davante Adams did?

    I doubt it.
Cook just doesn’t seem like the competitor Davante is.
Anyway, sitting out games has become second nature for Dalvin.

  4. Zimmer didn’t lie. The MRI procedure went pretty well. He never said anything about the results. Don’t worry, just like Hunter, it’s probably just a tweak.

  5. Wow Snow. Tank after 5 games? Now there’s a true Vikings fan, huh?

Just look at the gulf between the Vikings and GB – from GM to HC to players. Oh and the 13 NFL championships to however many your team has.

    Still
    Keep
    On
    Losing!! SKOL!!

  6. Just a stupid signing. Should have been dealt quietly in the offseason. The MeVeon Bell deal spiked the market. Once he got fat and lazy again, the McCaffreys,, Kamaras, etc, all had cases for more than 12 mil per.

Spielman is getting closer to a hot seat.

  7. Great back, but if he misses more than one game the injury prone label will start to stick. As to Adams, he’s a great WR, but also has an injury history, missing 4 games in 2015, missing year end and playoff games in 2016 and 2018, 4 games last year with turf toe, and 2 games this year already with a bad hammy. Yet we don’t see the same cheesers above whining about that — must not be able to tell through the green and gold glasses.

  8. An adductor strain can take up to 6 weeks to heal depending upon the severity of the strain. For a very mild strain it takes 3 weeks to recover.

I see a loss against Atlanta and essentially ending the pipe dream of playoffs that the singular little Vikings fan has.

I said in April that the Vikings would win 4 games this season. I stand by that statement. I also said that the Vikings have one of the worst rosters in the NFL. I stand by that statement as well. I am proven right over and over and I am being proven right in these two instances as well.

Wow, the team with the worst roster had the Seahawks beat with less than two minutes to go and nobody, and I mean nobody, would have bet that the Seahawks would win that game with a minute left. So perhaps the worst roster could beat thje Texans or the Falcons, or the Jaguars but the 4-0 Sehawks in Seattle?, how does the worst roster do that? Please explain, I can’t wait to hear this.

  10. Whew – all the GB talk and crying about how they are not ranked #1. And honestly listening to free proclaiming he is nosterdumbarse now is just too rich.

Is it because you beat teams already with a combined record of 4-12:
    Vikings
    Detroit
    New Orleans
    Atlanta

Who’s a good average team is more the question when beating teams they are supposed to.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

It’s called Next Man Up. The Packers have continued to win consistently when Adams has been out. Big diff.

  12. 1-4 Viking fans are celebrating their little “moral victories” as the standings carnage continues to pile up.

This season sure isn’t going the way they said it would.
