Melvin Gordon back at practice for Broncos

The Broncos sent running back Melvin Gordon home without practicing on Wednesday, but they welcomed him back to work on Thursday.

Gordon didn’t practice on Wednesday because he was arrested for driving under the influence late Tuesday night. Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said that the team didn’t want him at practice “until we get to the bottom of everything.”

The team appears to be comfortable with whatever they’ve learned about the circumstances of Gordon’s arrest. Multiple reporters at the open portion of Denver’s practice report Gordon is on the field with the rest of the team.

Fangio also said that “there will be some consequences” for Gordon from the team as a result of the arrest. If those consequences have been determined, they have not been announced and Gordon is also subject to league discipline.

  2. That is poor leadership from Denver.

    The guy drives 71 in a 35 and is hammered on a Tuesday night and you act like nothing happened?

    He probably was well over .08 if he was hobbling.

  3. Everyone – you and I included – is able to go back to work after getting a DUI. Gordon should be treated the same. I am sure that he learned his lesson already. No reason to just give up on the guy.

    No, everyone does not. There are many people who can lose their jobs bc of something like this. Get with it, bc you couldn’t be more wrong.

  5. Gordon is average at best. Elway WAY overpaid him. He has done nothing for the Broncos. Get rid of him.

  7. He should be allowed to do whatever he wants regardless of who he hurts. Even he killed babies and chopped of their heads he should be allowed to play football. He’s black he gets a pass

  8. Denver Post is right – Lindsay should get the majority of carries vs Pats. Not like they have a chance to win and Gordon needs to learn getting arrested for being drunk on a work night is a no no.

  9. Hey, the SD AG hit and killed a guy at night and got an alcohol test a mere 15 hours later and he used a borrowed sheriff’s car to drive home the night in question. So yeah, Gordon should be able to go back to work. Funny how athletes get held to an almighty standard while political figures do the same and everyone shrugs their shoulders.

  10. Dumb question – do the police report this to your employer? Otherwise I don’t know how you can lose your job or how the employer would find out, unless they do rolling background checks every 6 months. If you get a DUI, why not call a family member to email/call boss (don’t call direct to boss) to let them know you can’t make it to work because of a personal matter. Make up something. Otherwise idk how it’s anyone’s business what you’re up to during non work hours. Speaking for average jabronis here

    Translation: They think Gordon gives them a better chance to beat New England, so he’s playing.

    What exactly could they have they learned about the arrest that is favorable to Gordon? As mentioned in local reports, he was clocked going 71 in a 35 zone and did poorly on sobriety tests. His only hope is that the blood draw comes up clean. What are the odds of that? Even if he skates on the DUI, he was still out partying late on a Tuesday night during a pandemic and driving recklessly in an urban area. Not a good look regardless.

  15. Guessing the Broncos and the league will be very comfortable with the discipline coming AFTER this Sunday’s matchup vs the Patriots.
