Chiefs run over the Bills

The Chiefs dominated the Bills tonight, but not the way they usually do it.

Instead of Patrick Mahomes beating the Bills with his arm, it was the Chiefs’ ground game that led Kansas City to a 26-17 victory.

Rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire led the way with 161 yards, and the Chiefs also got strong running by Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson, as well as some big runs by Mahomes.

The Chiefs finished the game with 245 rushing yards and 225 passing yards. It was the first time since Mahomes became the starting quarterback that the Chiefs finished a game with more rushing yards than passing yards.

The Bills struggled mightily on offense. Although Josh Allen threw two touchdown passes, he was erratic and struggled to find anyone open downfield, and he threw a game-sealing interception in the final minutes. Allen was also the Bills’ leading rusher, but that was with just 42 yards as running backs Devin Singletary and Zack Moss were held in check by the Chiefs’ defense.

The win improves the Chiefs to 5-1 and is a major statement that they’ve rebounded from their loss to the Raiders and are favorites in the AFC. The Bills fall to 4-2 with consecutive losses to fellow AFC playoff hopefuls, and those two losses are tough to swallow for a team that fancied itself among the best in the conference, but isn’t quite there yet.

  1. As a Bills fan, this one hurt…
Props to the Chiefs. Still look like one of the best in the AFC. Game wasn’t nearly as close as the score may suggest.

Bills looked off kilter coming out, and didn’t figure out run defense at ALL until late the 4th quarter. Bills D *really* missed Milano again.

At this point, while I still think the Bills will take the East, I’m not sure how they will fare against the upper echelon teams in the playoffs.

    Still… Go Bills!

  2. Right on schedule, here come the paper tiger Bills!

Gashed for 200 yds plus. Did Josh Allen get past 100 yards passing?

    bawahaha

  3. The Bills are good, but I just don’t think you can be a true contender with a QB that erratic and inaccurate. This was a perfect set up for them, at home, in crummy weather that slowed KC’s passing attack, but they aren’t good enough.

  4. The Bills are paper champions. And the AFCE is “least” right now so they probably win the division out of default
Josh Allen still needs to learn the game more. Miami is going to sneak up on them if they aren’t paying attention.

  5. Always so many Pats fans here. You can definitely smell the fear.

Not too worried. Kind of an early mid-season swoon – but KC is KC.

Tough night w/ the conditions. Allen didn’t turn into a pumpkin or anything. He & the 1st place Bills will right the ship – the division will come down to the division games, as it should.

  6. The Bills didn’t look quite right on offense or defense. The defense made two really bad out of bounds fouls towards the end.

  7. The Chiefs patchwork offensive line looked substantially better tonight, than in any other time they’ve taken the field this season.

I wonder why their backups were able to play so effectively together, in this particular combination.

Does Veach and Reid really just have that much quality backup depth, or is it something else..?

Couldn’t have happened at a better time for the earthmovers up front.

  8. Bills got rolled. The last 2 weeks show they have along way to go before they can compete with AFCs beat.

Allen did his typical disappearing act when playing a good team

  9. The Bills ain’t quite ready for prime time. Allen looks like he’s regressed and the defense can’t make stops when it counts.
They got time to fix it.

  10. Just like that the AFC East is wide open to anyone except the Jets to take. Man this division looks a lot different this year.

  11. It’s amazing how the Patriots and Raiders can give other teams similar blueprints to exposing the Chiefs, but other teams like the Bills will do the exact opposite. I don’t respect Kansas City because I know the Titans and Steelers are playing better football right now in the AFC, and they have better defenses.

Somebody give this guy a hug. Please!

  13. I was watching CEH and that line run over everyone. And every time someone not named Clyde was handed the ball I imagined Le’Veon Bell instead and damn near got chills.

You do know they were playing the Bill’s who completely suck on defense this year? False hope mate.

  15. Sorry to burst your bubble KC, Buffalo is on there annual downward spin. But keep your hopes up it won’t last long!

  16. Overated, MVP talk, all nonsense. Josh Allen, c’mon, thinks he’s playing backyard ball. Going nowhere. Diggs should start acting like a child very soon.

Why are you laughing? The Patriots were embarrassed by a 1-win team on Sunday…..the Bills lost to the Chiefs. Moreover, the Bills are still in 1st place in the AFCE while the Patriots are now behind the Dolphins in 3rd place.

  18. Looks like Andy really motivated the rookie with that Bell signing…MAYBE thats all it was meant to do. You so smart Andy.

  19. It’s amazing how the Patriots and Raiders can give other teams similar blueprints to exposing the Chiefs,
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The same Pats that only scored 10 pts and lost 26-10? Those Pats exposed the Chiefs? Pretty sure the Chiefs will take that kind of exposure everyday all day.

One of the Bill’s strengths was supposed to be their defense, just because your fraudulent team put together a rare passing/offensive explosion (195 yards – woohoo!) doesn’t mean much. Against Buffalo – King Henry racked up a whopping 57 yards over 19 carries trying to replicate his AFC championship performance last January.

The Titans were a Crennel brain cough away from being deflated by the Texans on Sunday. We all saw it, should’ve lost, except Houston’s defense is truly non-existent this year and Romeo should’ve retired 5 years ago.

Except it isn’t is it? They are horrendous. Keep Trying.
