Adam Gase: Focus for Jets-Chiefs is winning the game, not Le’Veon Bell

Chiefs running back Le'Veon Bell will face his old team on Sunday when the Jets head to Kansas City, but his old coach says revenge isn’t anyone’s motivation.

Jets coach Adam Gase said he’s just focused on the Chiefs as a team, his players are just focused on the game, and he believes Bell is just focused on winning as well.

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure that he’s going to be worried about just winning a game, period,” Gase said, via ESPN. “That’s what most players are worried about. They’re worried about, ‘Hey, what do I have to do this week to help my team win?’ So, I’m sure that’s what he’s going to be worried about doing. We’ve got a lot of guys to worry about on that side of the ball against them.”

The focus is, of course, primarily on winning the game. Something few think the Jets will do, as the Chiefs are three-touchdown favorites.

  1. Winning the game? I don’t believe any of Gase’s players think they have the ability to win a game.

  2. I am still trying to figure out how the Bills got in the redzone 8 times and only came away with 6 field goals. That was some of the worst redzone QB we’ve seen this year outside of the Jets.

The Chiefs will not have that problem. I do predict that LeVeon Bell’s YPC will be much better than any game he had with the Jets.

  3. Social distancing yourself to avoid the spread of something isn’t always easy, but I think most bettors will have no problem distancing themselves from THIS spread

  4. Unfortunately for Gase, maybe he’d be better off thinking about winning the Jets next game because you can forget about beating the Chiefs.

  5. The Jets focus should be, getting a new owner and a new head coach. Especially Woody Johnson, he’s a horrible team owner and terrible diplomat. The league owners, need to push for the sale of the team.

  6. Lev Bell goes off for 150 total yards and a TD. Future HOF coach Andy Reid is going to flex all over the underqualified and inadequate Adam Gase

Chiefs win by 34 – calling it now

  7. The real focus for the Jets is to keep Gase in place until the end of the year because of his uncanny ability to lose every game without tanking.

Da Bears offence beg to differ…

  9. I’m a chiefs fan so of course I’m pulling for them, but as a football fan I’m really pulling for Gase to lose. This guy needs to be away from head coaching. He’s bad for the league. Never been a Jets or Dolphins fan, but it’s a shame what he’s done to 2 franchises after riding Manning’s coat tails in Denver.

  10. Gase was the perfect hire: Incapable of winning so the Jets can get the first pick and honestly say they didn’t outright tank. And, most incredibly, he’ll go 0-16 and learn absolutely nothing from it, remaining totally convinced he’s a mastermind but it was just a mixture of bad luck and players not doing what he told them. I’d bet the farm he’s privately told people that Tannehill’s current success is all his doing but it just took an extra couple years for everything to sink in.

  11. I never thought I would say this but I just hope my Patriots can somehow pull out two victories against the woeful Jets…

Why not? There isn’t as large of a gap between teams as people think in the NFL. That’s why you can say Any Given Sunday, and almost every Sunday it happens.

I’ve been a Chiefs fan for 30 years and they have always had a tendency to play down to their competition. It’s been even worse since Reid has been there cause he never wants to embarrass other coaches. If you watch this team against lesser opponents the offense always looks asleep at the wheel thinking they can just turn it on whenever. Just look at this season.

In a game like this if they aren’t focused and the Jets get some weird bounce, like a muffed punt or two, an iffy PI call. Suddenly it’s late in the 4th and they have a chance to win. This way of thinking is why teams like the Chiefs struggle against bad teams, they just assume they will get out of the way.

This is why the Pats were good for as long as they were. Not because they had the most talent, or were just that much better than anybody. It’s because every snap in a 1 point game to a 30 point blow out was played like 0-0 at the start of a game.

  13. I have a higher chance of marrying Ariana Grande next Sunday than the Jets have winning against the Chiefs

  14. Is Andy Reid the kind of coach to endorse and/or be complicit in a ‘revenge’ game for a guy who just got there 5 minutes ago? I’d be shocked to see that unfold and it would certainly change my opinion of him. NFL HC’s is a fraternity, for the most part, and they generally don’t like to undermine each other with THESE types of school-yard antics….they leave that silliness to the media and the media eats it up time and time again..
