Carolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was sidelined during the third quarter of Thursday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons after taking an illegal hit that led to an ejection.

After being tripped by Dante Fowler Jr., Bridgewater went to the ground before defensive end Charles Harris hit him late in the back of the head.

Harris was ejected from the game for the late hit to Bridgewater, who was taken to the sidelines for evaluation.

P.J. Walker took over for Bridgewater at quarterback for the Panthers as they finished the drive with a 39-yard field goal from Joey Slye to cut the Falcons lead to 19-17.

UPDATE 10:55 p.m. ET: Bridgewater cleared concussion protocol and was listed as questionable to return with a neck injury by the team. He re-entered the game on Carolina’s next possession.

  1. Cheap shot. At least Bridgewater’s teammates stuck up for him though. Looking at you Dallas…

  2. 2 dirty moves against Teddy Bridgewater from Arthur Blank’s Falcons – despicable. The trip and and the targeting of the head show they have no class.

  3. The trip on Teddy B. In slow mo was scary looking especially after what he has been through. It is amazing to see him out on the field without a knee brace.

  4. Gurley just ran out of bounds while Atl is trying to eat up clock. Does this guy have any football awareness?

  5. /Total bush league game – on just about every facet. Cheap shots, dumb penalties dumb calls dumb game all in all. Typical Thursday Night football oflate

  6. Pretty cheap way to win a football game by taking out the opposing QB.

Atlanta pipes in crowd noise and not cheap shots the QB. Very low class club.

  7. Suspend this guy. Disgusting to see that young man in serious distress on the sidelines.

  8. Couple of significant dirty plays that removed QBs over the last week. Same thing that Clowney did to Wentz in the playoffs last year. League should stiffen it’s penalty a bit more on the blatant shots. Eject player for as long as injured opponent is out.

That’s BS, what is Harris supposed to do??? He was already falling down.
    ——————–

How in the world is that your takeaway? Teddy is already falling down after being kicked/tripped by Fowler, and Harris dives in at his head.

  10. A little sympathy for Charles Harris. In all his years with the Dolphins he never got that close to an opposing player; he just was in unfamiliar territory and didn’t know what to do

  11. So if he was falling down, he’s down and there is no need to hit him. Football needs to clean up it’s act.

  12. Ummm Teddy put his hand on the ground to regain his balance and get more yards when … so he is now a running back and should get hit like one … keep these QBs behind the line of scrimmage if the NFL is so worried about them .

If the Falcons could just get Suh, and Aqib Talib,….

    ===========================================================

Suh has actually been a good player and teammate the last 7 or 8 years.
