Avery Williamson believes in miracles.

The Jets linebacker has been traded from the league’s last team without a win to its last team without a loss.

Per multiple reports, Williamson has been traded to the 7-0 Steelers.

A fifth-round pick of the Titans in 2014, Williamson spent four seasons in Tennessee and the last two with the Jets. He started the last six games for the Jets.

Pittsburgh reportedly is shipping a 2022 fifth-round pick to the Jets for Williamson and a seventh-rounder in 2022.

Williamson has a base salary of $2.75 million with up to $750,000 in per-game roster bonuses, per a source with knowledge of the deal. The current terms result from a renegotiation that wiped out the last year of his contract; he’ll be a free agent in 2021.

  1. Too bad he isn’t bringing Gregg William’s with him to shore up the Steeler’s defense

  2. Defense has been struggling since Bush went out even with Spallane playing well (and endearing himself to fans with some big plays). I don’t think it’s a stretch to say he’ll be struggling by seasons end as the starter. Looks like a good trade and didn’t have to give up much to make it happen. Nothing’s a sure thing, but K. Colbert doesn’t do anything without doing the due diligence. Even with this addition, it’s going to be a long, bumpy road to 8-0 with some thing to fix by then.

  3. Gregg Williams? Must be a joke. I am sure Avery is glad to be leaving J-E-T-S L-O-S E

Well in 2022 the Jets will be a better team

Really? When is the last time the Jets actually improved? And with their track record its ridiculous to assume theyd improve

  5. The Jaguars see your trade and will raise you later today. You’re not getting Lawrence without a fight…we benched Minshew and are going with Glennon and a 6th round rookie. Top that.

  6. I don’t know much about Williamson but he is starting for the Jets which means he should be a capable backup. I would not be surprised if the Steelers are not done making deals.

  7. If / when Williamson leaves after this year will help the Steelers in the 2022 draft comp pick equation which will help minimize the loss of the 2022 draft pick.
